CAPRICORN

Flag of Capricorn

Flag

The Flag of Capricorn is brown-black, which is the hard color of matter, reality and affinity. It denotes conservatism, stability, concentration and work. It is a color, which makes demands, calls for silence and sets principles and ambitions. Black is the most concentrated and hardest color - the color of protest, judgment, renunciation and isolation. It suggests time and death as absolute finality. It does not reflect the light and creates feelings of seriousness, pessimism, compression and, of course, darkness. It corresponds to the restricted and closed - the stable form of the square.

Symbol - Goat

The symbol for Capricorn contains the v-shape of the goat’s head and the fish tale of the sea-goat, since the constellation of Capricorn is found in the ‘southern seas’ of the celestial sphere. Alternatively, it has also been described as the goat bending down on its knees.

Comparison with its symbol

Goats are "agile animals" and "surefooted”. They are "gregarious, except for old bucks, which tend to live by themselves”. Goats are considered to be rather hardy animals. Capricorn is most often compared to the mountain goat. Capricorns are thought to be loners at heart, with introverted characters. Mountain goats find security in cliffs and heights - the highest places that can be climbed. Slowly but surely, a goat climbs the mountain. And, Capricorns are thought to move through life, achieving success slowly but surely. A large measure of strength of character is also associated with Capricorn.

Color

Those born under the sign of Capricorn go through life with fairly calm, deliberate actions. Like the goat, they don't rush, but always manage to get there in the end because of their sure-footedness. Capricorn people are happiest wearing dark colors - Black, Brown, Navy or Olive Green, and enjoy working or living in surroundings where the walls are dark or paneled. This is not to say that people born under this sign are somber in any way, although they do tend to be somewhat conservative and conventional in appearance. The Capricorn home is more likely to be traditional than ultra modern. Furnishings tend towards the elegant, with a harmonious use of color and style. Translated into the home these colors might be reflected in black lacquered Oriental furniture, perhaps some Chippendale pieces and maybe dark green walls offset with one or two well-selected paintings.

Capricorn

Capricornus ( or ), a name meaning "Horned Goat" or "That which has horns like a goat's" in Latin, is one of the constellations of the zodiac. It is commonly called Capricorn, especially in astrology. It is also called the sea-goat, as it is in an area of the sky known as the Sea. Capricornus is one of the 88 modern constellations, and was also one of the 48 constellations listed by Ptolemy. Under its modern boundaries it is bordered by Aquila, Sagittarius, Microscopium, Piscis Austrinus and Aquarius.

Their sign's element is Earth. Capricorn is ruled by the planet Saturn. They are honest, thorough, practical, ambitious, business-like and careful. Capricorn can be cold and aloof. They are determined, dependable, responsible and may be interested in collecting antiques. Capricorn is very often politically minded. They have an excellent sense of timing. Capricorn is also patient, reserved, cautious, faithful and shrewd. They possess a great deal of drive, and their sense of duty is very strong. Capricorn can be very suspicious at times.

This glyph is the symbol of the planet Saturn; it resembles a reverse of the glyph for the planet Jupiter; Saturn and Jupiter symbolize opposing energies in more ways than just the glyph. Saturn would seem to exert an opposing force to limit the expansion of Jupiter. This will keep the Jupiter nature's energies from running rampantly out of control.

Capricorns are ruled by Saturn, and the star sign is represented by the agile and sure-footed goat. The lucky stone for a Capricorn is black onyx.

Possible negative aspects of the sign Capricorn: They can be unfeeling, gloomy, pessimistic, miserly, unyielding, self centered, and revengeful.

On the downside: Cold, Miserly, Indifferent, Rigid.

Their good qualities include: Practical, Self-disciplined, Responsible, Reliable. Controlling their abilities, ambitions, destiny, and priorities will be their life’s work.

Key Planet - Saturn

Saturn is the planet that in earthly life serves to signify restrictions and obstacles they must face if their personal goals are incorrect for them or they have a karmic debt that needs paying. Saturns placement in their chart can indicate areas in their life that they will need to be particularly diligent about trying to change or work with. Thus Saturn has been called the planet of fate.

Saturn symbolizes the course of time and patience, tradition, and experience. At the best of times it helps to consolidate, and at its worst it restricts the persons efforts. Saturn is associated with the sign of Capricorn.

Saturn, the ringed planet, is etymologically tied to the word "Satan." But, as demonstrated in the Tarot, the "Devil Card" is not a bad card. It's only difficult. Saturn is the planet of boundaries and limitations. If any body succumbs to those limitations, then they are doomed to live within the laws of cause and effect. But if they do the hard work of spiritual practice, they can be rewarded by the wisdom that exists beyond the material plane. As the key planet for Capricorn, Saturn does symbolize that they deserve what they get. Taking shortcuts in life will create problems later on. But if the things are done with integrity, then the rewards will be sure to occur.

Element - Earth

Earth signs are naturally practical. In this lifetime all are bound to Earth. There is no escaping the reality around. The Earth is about as real as it gets; it can be felt, weighed and it has substance. Accordingly, the earth signs base their life on what is real, not what is imagined. Sensation is valued over thoughts or feelings. Earth signs live with their feet on the ground. Others seek their advice because of their basic sensibility. For earth signs, “seeing is believing”.

The earth of Capricorn is that of foundation and structure. It's about having a stable base instead of building the life on shifting sand.

Tenth House - Career

The Tenth House is the House of the Father. It is where one pursues the outer world, which is often related to one’s career. This isn't about personality. It's about how the outer world sees through the role one play in it. It is here, in the Tenth House, which one may look to find out about status and recognition.

Origin

Capricorn is represented by a mythical creature that is half goat, half fish. In Greek mythology, the god Bacchus was sitting by a river when he was threatened by a monster. Fearing death, he dove in and transformed himself: underwater he was a fish who survived by swimming; above the water he was a goat with horns that could fight the monster. Jupiter (who, by the way, rules Sagittarius) was impressed enough to promote Bacchus to the heavens, where he remains as the constellation Capricorn to this day.

Capricorn is also the sign of sin and sacrifice. Sagittarius the centaur-archer is believed to have shot Capricorn, transforming him into a sacrificial goat, or scapegoat. This is the very foundation of many religions, including the story of Jesus Christ.

In the Apocalypse, St. John explains that the Sun God (or son of God) is always born at midnight when the sun enters this sign of the winter solstice. The child is born in poverty, in a goat's manger in a stable, so that he can later save humankind as its sacrificial goat.

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, a planet that orbits the sun very slowly. As a result, Capricorns are said to think the same way: long-term. Saturn's influence also means that the best day of the week for this sign is Saturday.

Capricornus' history can also be traced to Babylonian times.  And his appearance then was as it is now, half-fish and half-goat.

In certain parts of the Orient, the constellation was known as the Southern Gate of the Sun, indicating that it is in this constellation that the Sun reaches its lowest point on the ecliptic and thereafter begins to appear higher and higher each day.

Sun in Capricorn

Capricorn is a feet-on-the-ground, eye-on-the-prize sign. Those with Sun in Capricorn have a realistic, grounded approach to life that can be seen no matter how dreamy the rest of the birth chart suggests. These people know how to do things, and to get things done.

Dec 21 - Jan 20: Saturn has ruler ship over the Sun here and the Sun is in aversion to its own domicile. Because Saturn represents the principle of agnoia, the Sun's (or their) sense of will and purpose is put to the test of whether it can manifest its being and become recognized as someone important, or have its achievements slip into oblivion through lack of acknowledgement (agnoia) or respect. If the Sun is received then there is ambition and success with achievement and acclaim. If not, then usually the native wonders what their purpose is in life because the agnoia (and aversion from Leo) prevents the knowledge of it. If this is the case, they often settle into routines and traditions for the sake of practicality rather than fulfillment. Their work ethic is very strong and sometimes they become workaholics, having a hard time loosening up because the Sun's spontaneity is restrained by Saturn. The reason for their tendency to overwork is probably because when the Sun is here, it is in the 6th solar house from its own (Leo). For the same reason they are often careful or mindful of their health. They often dislike flamboyant or rebellious individuals and feel uncomfortable around them. They crave respect because the Saturn/Sun combination tends to undermine their self confidence. They are very loyal and dependable. If eminence is indicated in the chart, the native usually comes to the forefront in politics or business.

Some Capricorns naturally turn their backs on things they deem too frivolous. They are very much concerned with things that are worthwhile -- and that includes their own lives. Capricorns want to do and be something worthwhile. Like their Earth signs relatives, Taurus and Virgo, they need to feel useful and effective in the real world in order to be satisfied with their lives. But the Capricorn spin on the earth signs is that Capricorn possesses a stronger need for recognition in a worldly sense. They have a strong sense of society and its framework, and they feel most secure when they feel they are doing their part within that framework.

Capricorns like to pare things down, and take pleasure in the simple things in life. However, many are attracted to status symbols and these ones will wear the best clothes (tasteful ones!) and drive quietly impressive cars.

Comparing Capricorns to their symbol, the goat brings up some interesting analogies. Solar Capricorns can see into the future, and plan for it. They don't mind taking things slowly, but they absolutely aim to get to the top of the mountain in life! They make their way steadily and sure-footedly; and their strength and singleness of purpose are admirable.

Capricorns can sometimes be rather lonely people, although they rarely let it show. They are often a little reserved -- even standoffish. This is generally because they value all things practical, and they'll seldom wear their emotions on their sleeves, unless they have a particularly flamboyant Moon sign.

This is a sign that is surely the most resourceful of the zodiac. To some, Capricorns come across as unimaginative, but they can be enormously creative when it comes to the material world. They are generally very capable people with a strong sense of tradition and responsibility.

Many Capricorns have mastered the art of making people laugh. Their sense of humor can be of the deadpan variety -- they're generally excellent at keeping a straight face. They can be bitingly sarcastic, too.

In a diurnal chart, the Sun is automatically of the sect in favor. The dryness supports distinctions and clarity in goals and direction and the heat rarifies the drive and purpose to succeed. Unless the Sun falls a chrematistikos (12th or 8th sign from the ascendant) they have a good chance for achieving something important by which they can be recognized. They are responsible and dependable and usually have a strong sense of purpose and rarely question their life direction. The down side is that they feel they have little freedom to do what they want at times, that they have to sacrifice alot to live up to other's expectations.

In a nocturnal chart, the cold and wet of night go against the hot and dry nature of the Sun. This has the effect of causing the native to question their purpose in life because the wetness blurs the distinctions making it less clear. This can be quite positive because it is less likely that they are living up to another’s expectations. Therefore they can be true to their own with some soul searching. The down side is that it is usually more difficult to avoid obscurity and get the recognition they feel they deserve. As a result, this position can create a tendency for extreme overwork. Perhaps the darkness of night creates agnoia over when to rest and take a break.

Capricorns are not known for taking too many risks in life. They value the beaten track and things "tried and true". This is not to say they are stick-in-the-muds -- they simply value the hard work laid down by those who've been around before them.

Turn to their Capricorn friends for help when they need to really get things done. They'll have practical advice, and they'll help they organize and manage their life a little better. Capricorns are generally good with their "word", dependable, and rather loyal people.

Some Famous People with Sun in Capricorn: Dido Armstrong (Sun in Capricorn), David Bowie (Sun, Mercury, and Mars in Capricorn), Nicolas Cage (Sun, Mercury, and Mars in Capricorn), Jim Carrey (Sun, Venus, and Mars in Capricorn), Kevin Costner, Mel Gibson (Sun and Mercury in Capricorn), James Earl Jones (Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Capricorn), Annie Lennox (Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Capricorn), Moliere (Sun and Mercury in Capricorn), Jimmy Page (Sun and Mercury in Capricorn), Howard Stern (Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Capricorn), Tiger Woods (Sun and Mercury in Capricorn).

Moon in Capricorn

According to medieval definitions, the Moon is in detriment here. The Moon is ruled by Saturn which means that Saturn asks for domestic security, love and emotional support for the native before the cosmic courtroom on the Moon's behalf. Because Saturn does this according to its own nature and with some degree of neglectfulness and agnoia, the Moon often feels left out in the cold and slighted. Saturn places greater importance on responsibilities and duties and views feelings as impractical. As a result, the native often feels unworthy of love and appreciation, and they may be shy. Many come from a home environment that was very traditional where emotional outbursts were not thought to be proper. They may seek to keep the peace by repressing their own feelings until it becomes intolerable. Some react to this in a saturnine manner by earning the love and admiration of others through achievement or works designed to impress others.

Being useful and productive are basic needs for Lunar Capricorns. Because they generally keep their emotions under check, Moon in Capricorn people come across as competent people. However turbulent their emotions may be under the surface, Lunar Capricorns keep cool-headed--and they come across as steady and reliable people.

This position of the Moon suggests a desire for clear boundaries and realistic goals. Not much for taking risks in life, Lunar Capricorns look for safety and security in most everything they do. Most of them respect authority and tradition, and many are planning well ahead of the rest of us. They protect their interests, plan for old age, or keep fall-back money in their bank accounts. These things come naturally to them.

They may have read that Moon in Capricorn natives are a bit cold and calculating. The fact is, they are unlikely to be any less emotional than the other 11 sign positions of the Moon -- they simply aren't comfortable "letting go" when it comes to emotions. They keep their emotions under control. Wherever Capricorn is found in the chart, there is a desire for structure and control. Capricorn is the sign of organization and efficient management; so, when the Moon is found in the sign, the world of emotions are well managed and handled in an efficient and practical manner.

They often seek to justify their worthiness because of deep-seated doubts caused by lack of emotional feedback in their early years. Others will be somewhat retiring and emotionally reserved, not easily expressing their love to others. Because the Moon represents the native’s basic emotional state, they can be subject to depression and morbidity and can be hard to console. On the positive side these natives are cautious with money. They are able to endure hardships more easily than most because they lack a feeling of entitlement and were rarely spoiled as children.

In a diurnal chart, the heat and dryness go against the cool and moist nature of the Moon. This has the effect of drying up the emotions to a large degree. Duty and responsibility tend to come ahead of personal needs and desires. This individual is more likely to seek to justify their worthiness of love and appreciation by earning it. Sometimes they aren't aware of any problems in their personal life until it takes them by surprise.

In a nocturnal chart, the cool and moist of the night amplify these same qualities in the Moon, increasing its dyadic, contrarial nature, but at the same time the agnoia of Saturn is increased. Emotions are not as likely to be repressed. Depression, shyness and loneliness may be problematic and the home life may be stormy, but problems eventually do get aired out because they will rebel against any traditions or expectations that make them unhappy. Their parents (usually the mother) may see them as irresponsible in their early years. It should be noted that the Moon is dignified by being in its own trigon which means that it is allowed to determine whether it is conforming to the standards set by the bound lord.

Calm, cool, and collected -- these words sum up Moon in Capricorn natives well. Messy emotions and "leaky" souls are a bit frightening for most with this position of the Moon. Truth is, they can have plenty of mood swings and some dark emotions now and again. Lunar Capricorns are often quite hard on them, and would benefit from letting their guard down once in a while. They quickly garner reputations of being mountains of strength, and they easily hide their sensitivity behind a sarcastic manner.

At the heart of Lunar Capricorns is a powerful need to feel worthwhile in the real world. There's a basic need for respectability and a big attachment to the world of the senses. Lunar Capricorns put a lot of value in all things tangible and real. And, perhaps more than anything, they need to be respected by others in order to feel secure.

Some Famous people with Moon in Capricorn: Benjamin Bratt (Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars in Capricorn), Cher, Matt Damon, Johnny Depp, Adolf Hitler, James Earl Jones (Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Capricorn), David Letterman, Ozzy Osbourne (Moon and Mars in Capricorn), Sarah Jessica Parker, Brad Pitt (Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars in Capricorn).

Stars

The stars of the constellation Capricorn can be connected in an alternative way, which graphically shows a goat.

The goat's head is formed by the triangle of stars ι Capricorni, θ Capricorni, and ζ Capricorni. The goat's horn sticks out with stars γ Capricorni and δ Capricorni. Star δ Capricorni, at the tip of the horn, is of the third magnitude.

The goat's tail consists of stars β Capricorni and α Capricorni: star β Capricorni being of the third magnitude.

The goat's hind foot consists of stars ψ Capricorni and ω Capricorni. Both of these stars are of the fourth magnitude.

Ptolemy noted the stars in the horns to be like Venus with a lesser influence of Mars; those in the mouth like Saturn with a lesser influence of Venus; those in the feet and belly like Mars and Mercury, and those in the tail like Saturn and Jupiter.

Manilius suggested that the stars in the first half of the sign are subject to Venus 'and that with a guilt involved', whilst 'a more virtuous old age is promised by the conjoined fish below'. In a general sense this is borne out in the meanings attributed to the stars, those in the first half of the constellation tending more towards issues of sacrifice and relationship problems, those in the latter suggesting attributes of trustworthiness, the potential for good judgment or acting in an advisory capacity to others.

The alpha star, Giedi, or Al Gedi, whose name derives from Al Jady, 'the Goat', seems to embody the association with sacrifice and the temperament of Ea in its influence of benefice, sacrifice and offering (Robson, p.167). Located between the horns, its nature is reckoned as like Venus with an influence of Mars. The Larousse Encyclopedia of Astrology associates it with piety and self-sacrifice. Robson states that it is symbolically called 'The Slain Kid'.

Dabih, in the left eye, has a nature like Saturn and Venus and holds a mixed reputation - if well placed it denotes prominence in public affairs and success in business, but if afflicted it causes criticism, suspicion, problems with friends and lovers, and the failure to realize ambitions.

Armus and Castra, in the heart and belly respectively, are stars with disagreeable natures, whose prominency indicates malevolence and destructiveness.

Dorsum, Nashira and Deneb Algedi, are all in the tail. As befits their Saturn-Jupiter nature they have the power to destroy or aid, depending upon whether they are well placed or afflicted.

Despite its zodiacal importance, Capricorn is unremarkable as a constellation, possessing no stars brighter than 3rd magnitude. It is second only to Cancer for its lack of luminosity and, like Cancer, was regarded as a celestial portal between Heaven and Earth. Whereas Cancer was 'the Gate of Men', through which souls descended to Earth from Heaven, Capricorn was 'the Gate of the Gods', the portal of ascension through which souls of the departed ascended back to Heaven.

Mercury in Capricorn

With Mercury in Capricorn, natives have a strong need to compartmentalize the impressions they get from the world. These people often speak and write in a slow and methodical manner. They appreciate structure and order. Although they are resourceful people, Mercury in Capricorn natives easily get frustrated when too much information is thrown at them at once. They break down ideas into manageable parts before arriving at a decision.

Usually quite mentally active, these natives are generally productive people who prefer taking on projects that will yield tangible and practical results.

These natives can have an authoritative air about them. They don't appreciate being taken off guard, and they quickly become impatient with people who don't honor their word. There's a bit of a law-maker in this position of Mercury. These people can seem a little strict and judgmental with others, and they are easily bothered when others don't seem to "get" things that seem extraordinarily obvious to them.

Mercury in Capricorn people can have seemingly crystal-clear judgment, although their thought processes can be skewed to the practical world. They too easily reject what they deem to be frivolous ways of thinking. Not given to much fancy, these natives' minds are oriented toward practical tasks.

There's a bit of a doubting Thomas in Mercury in Capricorn people. Many squint often -- not due to poor eyesight, but because their first reaction to information is skepticism! It's more of a furrowing of the eyebrows, and it's often seen in people with a strong Saturn (Capricorn's ruling planet) in their charts as well.

With the Sun in Sagittarius or Aquarius, these people may come across as more hard-nosed, conservative, and practical than they actually are! The reason for this is that they process, and relay, information (Mercury) in a Capricorn way.

The style of communication with this position of Mercury is generally of the no-frills variety. Capricorn is a sign that hates waste and values time. They will generally be rather concise in their presentation, although they do take their time when they make plans -- they consider it an investment in the future.

Saturns ruler ship over Mercury in this sign has the effect of slowing and concentrating logos making the native more methodical and serious in communications with others and in problem solving. They also have great powers of concentration. Some (like Einstein) are capable of great feats of hierarchical logic. If there are difficult aspects to Mercury then this individual may see things in terms of black and white and ignore the subtleties, or they may suffer from a speech impediment, or they may have trouble getting away from negative patterns of thought that are self defeating. Sometimes this individual tends to focus too much on the negative and forgets to consider the positive. Depression or hypercritical attitudes can result. They tend to be very practical and conservative and are more likely to lean to the political right.

In a diurnal chart, the dryness creates clear distinct thought and the heat rarifies intellectual issues so that only the relevant issues are focused upon. This creates a tendency towards analytical problem solving. This individual possesses good common sense and an ability to reason logically and methodically. They are quick to notice any flaws in an argument and make excellent scientists.

In a nocturnal chart, the wetness blurs thought distinctions and may muddy the logic to some degree, but it is also possible that the native may focus on more difficult problems that just don't have quick and easy solutions. The coldness concentrates like and unlike together in closer proximity, which makes problems harder to divide into logical subsections for analysis. As a result, they often have to approach problems indirectly to be able to solve them. Their thought processes may be more relational and metaphorical than analytical. They may be more prone to depression than their diurnal counterparts.

Communication difficulties are generally most obvious when Mercury in Capricorn people are relating to those with Mercury in Aries (who find them too deliberate and methodical), Mercury in Cancer (who think they're too cold and practical), and Mercury in Libra (who find them too judgmental). Mercury in Capricorn people have their gripes with them too -- Aries seem too hasty, Cancer too emotional, and Libra too argumentative. The key to overcoming these challenges lies in understanding that they are the result of differences in styles of communication.

Some Famous People with Mercury in Capricorn: Benjamin Bratt (Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars in Capricorn), Nicolas Cage (Sun, Mercury, and Mars in Capricorn), Ellen DeGeneres, Mel Gibson (Sun and Mercury in Capricorn), James Earl Jones (Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Capricorn), Moliere (Sun and Mercury in Capricorn), Brad Pitt (Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars in Capricorn), Tom Selleck (Mercury and Mars in Capricorn), Howard Stern (Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Capricorn), Tiger Woods (Sun and Mercury in Capricorn).

Venus in Capricorn

Venus in Capricorn people will try to win their heart by displaying self-control, presence of mind, and responsible behavior. These lovers want others to know that they are goal-oriented, witty, savvy, and controlled. Nobody can get the best of them. They want others to see just how competent they are. They like some measure of predictability in their relationships, as they are cautious in love.

Venus in Capricorn men and women project an aura of competency and their loner-like behavior can be attractive, in a cool way. They don't go gaa-gaa over love, or at least they don't express as much. Their lovers may complain that Venus in Capricorns are a little too practical and deliberate. Certainly, they can come across as lacking in warmth and spontaneity. Truth is, they can be rather romantic souls who yearn for a partner to share their lives with. Others' image of their relationship matters to them. They are conservative and willing to commit. Venus in Capricorn people are attracted to serious, goal-oriented lovers. They are a little shy in matters of the heart, but they don't want others to know it. These people plan ahead in love, and, unlike Venus in Pisces, they will let they know exactly where they (and the relationship) are headed.

Venus relies upon the stewardship of Saturn to ask on her behalf for love, romance, wealth and happiness for the native. If Saturn is well situated and receives Venus, then the individual is fortunate and will usually attain a long lasting relationship. Sometimes this creates a larger age gap between the native and the other person than is recognized as normal. The native often approaches romantic involvement from a practical point of view making them appear calculating to others. In ancient times arranged marriages were the standard, but now these natives are likely to be set up by others on a blind date (due to Saturn's agnoia). Most astrologers currently believe that Venus feels insecure and vulnerable in this sign, causing the native to be hesitant to get involved too quickly in romantic affairs. This is probably true in most circumstances unless Venus is oriental in a day chart squared or opposed by Mars.

Pleasing Venus in Capricorn involves showing them they are practical and realistic. They want to impress others with the things they do. Appreciate their "saving for a rainy day" attitude, and be aware that they want to show they off in a quiet way.

Some Famous People with Venus in Capricorn: Tyra Banks, Ludwig van Beethoven, Benjamin Bratt (Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars in Capricorn), Jim Carrey (Sun, Venus, and Mars in Capricorn), Brad Pitt (Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars in Capricorn), Britney Spears, Howard Stern (Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Capricorn), Ben Stiller (Venus and Mars in Capricorn), Justin Timberlake.

Mars in Capricorn

With fiery Mars in the more orderly sign of Capricorn, natives with this position have a subdued and controlled style of approaching life. Most don't come across as particularly enthusiastic; rather, theirs is a low-key but determined energy.

Mars in Capricorn natives like to be on top of things. They are generally goal-oriented and focused people who are not afraid of hard work. Most are achievers by nature, and many possess well-defined ambitions--well defined to them more than anything. They're not particularly flashy people, but their drive to succeed and to make their lives secure is strong, even if it's not right out there for the world to see.

Mars is exalted in this sign. Antiochus says that this is because the god of war exalts in this place of death. (The steward of this sign - Saturn - is symbolized by the grim reaper). Most astrologers say that Mars is given the discipline it lacks by Saturn the taskmaster. The cosmic soul is said to perceive the actions of the native more clearly when in this sign, but this may be because Mars is in the 10th sign from Aries, its own domicile, thereby making it more visible cosmologically.

For this reason, it is fortunate for getting ahead or becoming famous or well known, and seems to create ambition in the native. They have an intense drive, strong self discipline and self control and have a commanding presence. Quitting is not in their vocabulary. Its relationship to Saturn allows the native to be practical and coordinated in his/her efforts, sustaining them for the long haul. They tend to be very serious and focused and are anything but laid back.

Anger is expressed in a rather cool, level-headed way with this position of Mars. Self-control is strong when it comes to expressing anger, drive, energy, and sexuality. Capricorn is a sign that detests waste of any kind. It also fears disorderliness and "letting go". With Mars in Capricorn, there is generally a powerful need to stay in control. Mars in Capricorn natives are working toward realistic and attainable goals. They are productive people who get off when they see tangible results from their efforts.

In a diurnal chart, the excess heat and dryness purify and make distinct, the intent of the native, but due to the excess of these qualities, the native may lose some of his/her self control. (Mars is not of the sect in favor). They may push too hard and generate intense opposition because Saturn is of the sect in favor and the principle of limitation is imposed and the agnoia of Saturn is minimized. This means that Saturn will not wink at the transgressions of Mars. Even so, they are likely to advance and overcome their enemies, but with trouble and strife.

In a nocturnal chart, the cool and moist of night counteract the excessive dryness of Mars. If Mars is also above the horizon, it is in hayz. The natives actions become more shrewd and cunning. The principle of limitlessness is in operation. The agnoia of Saturn is increased allowing Saturn to wink at the natives transgressions. This is very favorable for anyone in the military, those seeking command, or business success, because they are likely to be able to progress quickly with a minimum of restrictions. They have more self-control than their diurnal counterparts.

This is not to say that natives of this position are cold in any sense of the word.  Their desires are strong, but they are often centered around the physical and material world -- all that can be seen and held. With Mars in an Earth sign, sensuality is expressed in an earthy way. However, unlike Mars in Taurus, for example, (another earth sign), Mars in Capricorn is not self-indulgent by nature. These people are usually quite disciplined. Capricorn possesses the ability to plan for the future -- something that many other signs have difficulty doing.

Many natives with this position are a little hard on themselves, and sometimes others. They usually can be relied upon because they have an innate sense of responsibility to both themselves and to those they care about. Most of them are very hard working, and one of their strategies for anger management is to throw themselves even more energetically into their work!

Some Famous People with Mars in Capricorn: Christina Aguilera, Lisa Bonet, Benjamin Bratt (Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars in Capricorn), Nicolas Cage (Sun, Mercury, and Mars in Capricorn), Jim Carrey (Sun, Venus, and Mars in Capricorn), Walt Disney, Katie Holmes, Ozzy Osbourne (Moon and Mars in Capricorn), Brad Pitt (Moon, Mercury, Venus, and Mars in Capricorn), Julia Roberts, Tom Selleck (Mercury and Mars in Capricorn), Steven Spielberg, Ben Stiller (Venus and Mars in Capricorn).

Jupiter in Capricorn

Jupiter is in its fall in this sign, which means that the cosmic soul is not able to perceive jovian issues like happiness, breadth of understanding, optimism, etc. with regard to the natives life very clearly. This affects more strongly the houses that Jupiter rules and not the general issue of happiness. This is because jovian issues are believed to have less merit when the issue is seriousness, caution, a focus of understanding (or lack thereof), pessimism, etc. Antiochus says that where Mars is exalted (war, violence and death), there Jupiter falls (life and breath). Jupiter is associated with air in ancient times and mountains are typically saturnian.

It is interesting from an astrological perspective that as they near the summit of a mountain that there is increasingly less air. What this means on a personal level is that they are likely to be quite conservative and practical and can be very uncomfortable with overly optimistic expectations. They may be afraid to get their hopes up and tend to lower their expectations for the reason that they fear being let down and disappointed. There may be a tendency to look gift horses in the mouth. They may be overly cautious when it is unnecessary.

Some astrologers say that this is good for those in business because Jupiter brings abundance and profit and Capricorn is the sign of business. However this would seem to be illogical because of the fall hindering the ability of Jupiter to speak to the cosmic soul about profit. Perhaps under some circumstances where Jupiter is received it can be heard, despite its inability to be seen while in its "depression". On a spiritual level, this position seems to be about the ability to perceive opportunity and overcome the illusion of the nothingness (agnoia) presented by its lord Saturn.

In a diurnal chart, the heat of the day supports this same quality in Jupiter. Jupiter is of the sect in favor, allowing it to function within the principle of limitation through faith. These natives are very practical and can be very persistent in striving towards their goals. They tend to consistently put a little effort in every day rather than trying to gain success all at once. They may be content with the illusion that they cannot make their circumstances any better or progress faster.

In a nocturnal chart, the cold of the night inhibits the abundance producing ability of Jupiter. This can mean that the individual suffers from a lack of financial resources or that they fail to properly perceive opportunities for advancement because of an excessively conservative or overcautious streak. If this individual learns to think positively, they will find that seemingly insurmountable obstacles to success are often illusions created by its lord, Saturn (agnoia)...

Saturn in Capricorn

Because Saturn was made familiar with the workings of this zoidion in the beginning, it is able to speak directly to the cosmic soul on behalf of the native for such things as status, success, command, authority, responsibility, and honor, etc.. For this reason, this position is excellent for those who seek advancement in politics, increase in status or rank, or fame through their career. Because they have a good sense of priority, they make good organizers and administrative personnel. They are very careful planners and can be very calculating. They seem to have a great need to achieve something important and make a lasting impact upon the world by which history will remember them. They have a strong sense of duty and obligation and rarely seek to shirk their responsibilities. They are inherently conservative and are slow to accept new methods over the "tried and true".

But because Saturn is the planet of agnoia and neglect, there is the danger of falling into disgrace and dishonor if they forget to live by the same high standards they expect others to live by. Because of this, the penalties for failure are much higher and less forgiving for these natives than they are for most.

In a diurnal chart, the heat of the day counteracts the inherently cold nature of Saturn, thereby diminishing its agnoia. Saturn can function effectively under the principle of limitation set by the diurnal sect and set realistic goals for the native. Therefore these individuals often reach positions of power and prestige. Their integrity is often unquestionable and rarely do they suffer dishonor or disgrace.

In a nocturnal chart, the cool and moist of the night intensify the cold nature of Saturn. Because the nocturnal sect belongs to the principle of limitlessness, the native may overstep ethical boundaries in their ambition to get ahead. Blind ambition is a good term to describe this since the agnoia of Saturn is increased along with the need to achieve. They may suffer occasionally from overwork or depression.

Uranus in Capricorn

Uranus was last in this sign between late 1988 and 1995. Uranus represents sudden breakthroughs, change and enlightenment, but the lord of this sign, Saturn has to do with anangke (agnoia - ignorance), traditions and oppression. Sometimes traditions are practiced so long that no one remembers why they started and what they are for. They have the effect of limiting questioning and thought of how things can be changed for the better. Because this place has to do with government, it shows unrest and change in the balance of power worldwide. Uranus entered this sign under an eclipse in early Capricorn in late 1988. At the same time the Pan Am 103 disaster struck. A few months later the Tienamen Square massacre took place (June 4, 1989), and by November the Berlin wall fell effectively signifying the end of communism in Eastern Europe.

The old order continued to fall and questions about the integrity of government institutions was wide spread which led to the Waco disaster and the OK City bombing. Interest in technology also reached a pinnacle during this period when the Windows operating system became viable because of advances in micro-chip technology. Those born with Uranus in this sign will have to reconcile the need for stability and security and the need for change.

This issue becomes all the more pointed when they have inner planets in close aspect or conjunction to Uranus here, in which case they should not be surprised if they become involved with, or become the focus of some movement for social change at some point in their life. It is likely that most of this generation will have an acute distrust of government institutions and a latent fear of big brother. They are also likely to be talented technicians and problem solvers.

In a diurnal chart, the heat and dryness of the day amplify these same qualities in Uranus. The need for change and a break from traditions and established thought patterns will over power the need for stability and continuity. Depending upon which house this is in, it will tend to create havoc and instability in those areas, particularly if Uranus is closely aspected. When change happens it is likely to be a conscious decision and unlikely to be a surprise.

In a nocturnal chart, the cool and moist of night counteract the excessively hot and dry nature of Uranus. Change becomes more difficult and often the native feels that something is not quite right (often related to the house Uranus is in), but they just can't seem to put their finger on it. If something changes abruptly, it is likely to be more surprising.

Neptune in Capricorn

Neptune was last in this sign between 1984 and 1998. Because of Neptune's excessively wet nature, Saturn's dryness, which promotes distinctions, is inhibited. This has the effect of undermining, in a subtle way, the structures and institutions of government such that their integrity is questioned. Scandal is often the result. In the USA, the period began with the idealism of patriotic values under Reagan and ended with the impeachment of Clinton. Because the energy level of Neptune is low, resistance is often passive in nature. It is similar to Jupiter's transit of this place in that one has to evaluate what is truly real and what is just illusion. Communism was strongly affected by this transit because Neptune is inclusive and idealistic and Saturn seeks to organize this into a political reality. This generation will be prone to idealistic values with regard to what the proper role of government should be. Those with inner planets in close aspect or conjunction to Neptune here may promote a form of government in the future with religious or philosophical overtones.

In a diurnal chart, the heat and dryness of the day counteract the cold and wet nature of Neptune. Therefore, Saturns ability to create and maintain structure is upheld. Neptune may only be felt as a sort of idealizing influence upon the structures that Saturn has created in their life. As a result, they may be blinded or rationalize any problems related to the house position of Neptune. They may find it difficult to let go of traditions.

In a nocturnal chart, the cold and wet of night amplify these same qualities in Neptune. These natives will have to face and discern reality from illusion in order to create effective structures represented by the house placement of Neptune. They are less likely to have idealistic values related to government and patriotism and are more likely to passively resist injustices.

Pluto in Capricorn

Pluto will enter this sign again in 2009 and stay there until 2025. Because Pluto is associated with generation and corruption, it would not be surprising to see the fall of many more governments and institutions than usual during this time. Since Capricorn is related to concern over the world at large there will no doubt be cries that the world is about to end. It won't end, but it may change drastically. There may be renewed concerns over the use of nuclear power and there may be a new nuclear threat at this time that world had not conceived of before.

The outer planet transits of 2009 are strangely reminiscent of 1989 in which the early degrees of cardinal signs were active. There may be a push for a world government at this time to take over the chaos likely to be present. Those with close aspects from inner planets to Pluto in this sign will have strong leadership potential. The last time Pluto was here the USA declared independence from Britain, and Napoleon was born.

Astrology

In astrology, Capricorn is associated with the classical element Earth, and thus called an Earth Sign (with Taurus and Virgo). It is also one of the four Cardinal signs (along with Aries, Cancer, and Libra). It is the domicile of Saturn and the exaltation of Mars. Its polar opposite is Cancer.

Capricorn is an astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Capricornus. Under the tropical zodiac, Capricorn is occupied by the Sun from December 22 to January 20, and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from January 15 to February 12. The opposite sign to Capricorn is Cancer. The Western astrological sign Capricorn of the tropical zodiac (December 22 - January 19) differs from the astronomical constellation and the Hindu astrological sign of the sidereal zodiac (January 19 - February 15).

Capricorn is the tenth sign of the Zodiac and associated with hard work and business affairs. People born under this sign are thought to have an ambitious, patient, responsible, stable, trustworthy, shrewd and persistent character but one which is also prone to coldness, conservatism, materialism and dullness.

In some cosmologies, Capricorn is associated with the classical element Earth, and thus called an Earth Sign (with Taurus and Virgo). It is also one of the four Cardinal signs (along with Aries, Cancer, and Libra). It is the domicile of Saturn and the exaltation of Mars. Its polar opposite is Cancer. Each astrological sign is assigned a part of the body, viewed as the seat of its power. Capricorn rules the knees, bones, and skin. The ancient symbol of this sign is the sea monster, which harks back to the time in antiquity when Capricorn was considered a water sign and not an earth sign. The symbol for this eventually changed to that of a sea goat, which is a mythological creature that has the head and upper body of a goat and the lower body of a fish, and this was an attempt to meld the watery qualities that this sign originally possessed with the earthly qualities that astrologers wanted it to acquire. In modern times the symbolism for this sign has evolved once again, with astrologers doing away with the figure of the sea goat altogether in favor of the mountain goat, which has almost eradicated the watery themes that once encompassed this sign.

Each astrological sign is assigned a part of the body, viewed as the seat of its power. Capricorn rules the knees, bones, and skin astrologically speaking; most Capricorn born people take responsibilities very seriously. Even though they have taken all precautions most Capricorn born people are natural worriers.

Mythology

There is confusion over how Capricornus came to be.  Some say that he represents the Shepherd-god Pan.  Others say that he was quite a different god, Aegipan   Now so terrible was the sight of Typhon that Zeus himself is said to have changed himself into the form of the ram, Aries, and remained that way for a while.

Zeus reappeared in his own form and prepared to do battle with Typhon, Zeus was defeated.  Typhon cut out the tendons of Zeus' hands and feet.  This made him helpless to move.  He then hid the tendons in a cave in the land of Cilicia. To guard the tendons, Typhon selected the dragon-woman Delphyne, half-serpent and half-woman. Now Delphyne wasn't a very good guard and permitted the tendons to be stolen by the gods Hermes and Aegipan.  Aegipan, like the other gods, had transformed himself into an animal to escape detection by Typhon. He had jumped into the river when Typhon approached.

But he was already halfway submerged before he thought of what form of animal he would wear.  He decided to be a goat.  So a goat he became, but only from the waist up.  From the waist down he took the form of a fish.

Aegipan and Hermes managed to steal the tendons of Zeus and return them, making Zeus once again as fit as ever.  His strength regained, Zeus unleashed all his fury and killed the monster Typhon by hurling thunderbolts at him.  For Aegipan's role in this battle against the Titans, Zeus gave him an honored place in the sky as the constellation Capricornus.

The Sea-Goat. There is confusion over how Capricornus came to be.  Some say that he represents the Shepherd-god Pan. The other gods also changed themselves into animal forms.  Aphrodite and Eros, for example transformed themselves into the two fishes Pisces. Capricornus' history can also be traced to Babylonian times.  And his appearance then was as it is now, half-fish and half-goat.

The Arabs, Persians, Turks, and Syrians all knew Capricornus as the Goat. In certain parts of the Orient, the constellation was known as the Southern Gate of the Sun, indicating that it is in this constellation that the Sun reaches its lowest point on the ecliptic and thereafter begins to appear higher and higher each day.

This constellation is sometimes identified as Amalthea, the goat that suckled the infant Zeus after his mother Rhea saved him from being devoured by his father Cronos in Greek mythology. The goat's broken horn was transformed into the cornucopia or horn of plenty. Some ancient sources claim that this derives from the sun "taking nourishment" while in the constellation, in preparation for its climb back northward.

However, the constellation is often depicted as a sea-goat, a goat with a fish's tail. One myth that deals with this says that when the goat-god Pan was attacked by the monster Typhon, he dove into the Nile; the parts above the water remained a goat, but those under the water transformed into a fish.

In Sumeria, the constellation was associated with the god Ea or Enki, who brought culture out of the sea to humankind.

The constellation, together with its early Greek name, associated ideas about sin, and the constellation of Aquarius, who was said to have poured out a river, may represent the origin of the myth of the Augean Stable, which forms one of The Twelve Labors of Heracles.

The constellation is located in an area of sky called the Sea or Water, consisting of many watery constellations such as Aquarius, Pisces, and Eridanus.

Capricornians are good managers and hard workers who tend to expect a lot from others, and they do well as teachers and in financial occupations.

Earth sign ruled by Saturn. Capricornians are ambitious, resolute, cold minded, melancholic. Fatigue never makes them afraid; they work hard and are ready to sacrifice themselves, if necessary. They plan patiently and carefully all their objectives and the way to reach them. To achieve their results they are ready to do anything, without asking any help. They are reserved and introverted, but sometimes they live sudden moments of impulsiveness. Their main characteristics are shyness and insecurity which disappear when they realize of being loved and appreciated.

Capricorn (the goat) is the most serious of all the zodiac signs. They are independent and (usually) confident. They have a tendency to criticize them too much, which can lead to low self-esteem. Capricorns are dependable, but also extremely cautious. They make a fair, but stubborn leader, and this is a job that they can do well. They are very well organized, so they can handle many projects at once. They may go through horrible mood swings, being friendly one moment and mean the next.

Suited jobs are: politician, entrepreneur, insurer, estate agent, banking employee. In love, Capricornians are serious, constant and faithful, but not too effusive.

Capricorn Greatest Strength: Their ability to overcome obstacles.

Capricorn Possible Weakness: Too much work and not enough play.

General character

The Capricorn traits of self discipline, frugality, self sacrifice and sense of purpose are also seen to be expressed by them in relationships, where they offer their self for the sake of the others. This is the higher meaning of Capricorn. It is a stabilizing influence on the world around them and acts as a means of infusing security to the ones they love dearly, often without thought of return

Ambitious, serious and dedicated to duty, life may seem difficult for them, but they ultimately triumph. Although they are self-disciplined, responsible and practical, at times they can wallow in self-pity. Their reasoning ability is excellent, and they have a strong sense of purpose and direction. They may appear somber and reserved in their dealings with others, but once they give their trust they are a loyal and steadfast friend. Socially-oriented, they are willing to work hard for anything they want, and their self-esteem is extremely important to them.

They are a forceful thinker, and they are impulsive, ambitious and creative. At times they can be reflective and introspective, but they can also be egocentric, inflexible and stubborn, showing a lack of impartiality.

Hard-working, cautious and earnest, their mind is penetrating; their memory for facts and figures is excellent, and detailed work is right up their alley. When they want to make a point they can be tactful and diplomatic, but basically they tend to intellectual snobbery. They have good common sense and the ability to turn ideas into practical use. They are self-disciplined and a good disciplinarian, but they must remember to add heart to their head. They are methodical in both thought and procedure, which gives them executive and political ability. They like to uphold traditional ideas; they are realistic rather than idealistic. They also have keen awareness and good powers of concentration. They may lack the ability to laugh at themselves, but if they have a sense of humor it will be somewhat satirical.

They secretly desire to travel worldwide, to learn. They are an educator a giver of knowledge and a symbol to some of what they wish to become.

Their emotions are unpredictable, and they can be very intense. Because they are receptive and sympathetic, others easily take advantage of them. Their excessive sensitivity can stand in the way of self-confidence or decisive action, and they must develop initiative and self-reliance. They try to avoid confrontation of any kind. Though seemingly quiet on the outside, their demeanor hides an inner restlessness. They are usually shied, musical and even lazy. Sexually, they are very romantic and sensual.

Being ruled by Saturn endows them with a sobering, down to earth approach in everything they do in life. For this reason, some people may see them as a little serious and somewhat overly concerned with the practical results of their endeavors. It is this drive for material security which is at the heart of their nature.

Their competitive instincts are highly developed and should be a source of great strength as they climb the ladder of success. The fields of banking, finance and investment are ideally suited to their pragmatic and commercial nature. Because they are so goal orientated, they may forget to enjoy the process of getting there. Remember to smell the roses on the way.

They are self-sacrificing in relationships and are more passionate than others would at first think. They need a partner who will share in their dreams and be a part of the future they have destined for them selves.

As a Baby

The Capricorn baby has a plan from day one and will definitely stick to it! A bit on the serious side, this is a child who is disciplined, methodical, and highly organized to boot. Is this really a child? Well, yes and no. Not adventurously inclined, the Capricorn baby almost seems dull, but they are simply taking time with things, learning lessons slowly, so as to learn them well. This child enjoys feeling important from an early age, so don't hesitate to give them responsibilities. The Cap baby is up to the task! They also understand things better as they get older and appreciate the merits of a reward system. Good deeds are repaid in kind! This babe will rejoice and will happily live with that precept in mind. When it comes to learning, the Cap baby shouldn’t be rushed, preferring to follow its own pace of discovery.

Early lessons will be of the organizational kind, which is how this tot's mind operates. Organizing the play group will be play indeed. As with everything, the Cap baby will be hyper-focused and determined. Even speaking will be undertaken with great effort and diligence, leading many Cap babies to bypass babbling and go straight to chatter! To sum up, the Capricorn baby prefers to play it safe, enjoying the efforts of a job well done.

Positive Qualities

They are a tireless worker, to the point of self-martyrdom. They'll do any and all work assigned to them, so that they can impress their superiors and gradually move up the ladder. They will eventually gain more and more status and wealth, but it takes a long time. That's okay with them, though --they've always understood this.

Chances are, they come from a poor background -- like the baby Jesus -- and they decided early on that they would work as hard as they could to improve their standing for their family. In fact, they have an innate fear of poverty, so much so that once they've achieved a rank or two in the world they will fight to the death to keep it.

This is also in keeping with their far-thinking approach to life, as determined by the slow-moving Saturn. They plan, plan, plan. They save, save, save. One would think them a dour person for all this work, but they have their moments of joy -- after all, the words saturnalia and bacchanalia apply to they, and both define wild abandon.

They probably already know a lot about sacrifice. They were the one who stayed up caring for a sick relative when they were a kid, instead of playing with their friends. They're the one who keeps the family together, in fact, when members drift off. They're the glue, the controlling force in this world. Without them, it would simply fall apart.

Similarly, they have a great sense of tradition. They respect what they've inherited, and they believe in cherishing it and handing it down in the same state or better. Be it a grandparent's locket or the oral history of the family, it's safe with they.

Like their neighboring signs, Sagittarius and Aquarius, they are proudly intellectual. But they're not as argumentative as a Sagittarius. Theirs is a quieter wisdom -- if they know they're right, they don't believe they have to get into an all-out war just for the show of it. The truth will win out.

For this reason, they make an excellent teacher. In fact, they see the world as very structured, and as they gain rank in the system, they believe in teaching those below them. If they are a teacher, they're probably very strict. It's not due to malevolence, just a strong sense of tradition, of wisdom, of right and wrong, of the merits of hard work.

Negative Qualities

They would think that Capricorns would be capricious. But they're not. Far from it, they have their occasional gambling binge or Saturday night bash, but for the most part they're very ordered. They live for the future, not for the moment. They're busy planning their life five, ten, twenty years from now while the Sagittarians, Leos, and Arians are living it up. That's all fine, but the problem is, they are easily depressed.

In fact, they're probably preoccupied with death. Saturn is often said to be associated with Father Time; others believe it is an evil influence (Saturn and Satan are almost interchangeable). This makes them rather morbid -- their sense of humor is sarcastic and dry to the point of being, well, sick.

Capricorns are also known for bigotry. It seems their fear of poverty is so strong they'll take any tack to defend the status they've gained in life, and that includes a narrow-minded view of people of different backgrounds. They're entitled to their opinions, and they have strong reasons for them, but this inflexible attitude could cause irreparable reputation damage in today's politically correct climate.

Saturn's slowness also throws delays into their life. They're used to them by now, but still, they often think they have the worst luck -- another ailing relative to care for, or car to fix, or unwelcome responsibility at their job etc They'll do it, because sacrifice is their nature, and when they have time again they'll work harder just to make up for what they lost.

This pattern can easily lead to a depressed, bad-things-always-happen-to-me attitude. Don't let it. People really appreciate them -- no one else could be a better friend. They also respect their ethics and status. So they have to be relaxed -- they'll get what they want, it just takes time, and time is something they know about all too well.

Physical Qualities and Activities

They're a lean, mean, running machine seriously. Capricorns are not particularly muscular, but rather lanky. The sign rules locomotion, the knees and joints, and their personality is very driven towards long distances, long time spans, and hard work. So, they're the ideal marathon runner. They also enjoy other endurance events, such as long-distance cycling, rock climbing, mountain climbing, or anything with a similarly daunting goal.

If they participate in any other sports, it's only to get better at them, or to further their career by being in the right place. Otherwise, they're not the type that will get out and enjoy recreation just for the idle fun of it.

Like the other intellectual signs, they do enjoy studying, and they especially love music. There's something in its complexity -- particularly in great classical works, its degree of difficulty to master, that they appreciate.

Physical appearance

They tend to be tall and have sharp, angular features. They generally have serene expressions and an air of tranquility. They take great care with their appearance but hate any form of flamboyance or extravagance.

People who exhibit the physical characteristics distinctive of the sign of Capricorn generally have a small skeletal structure. The shape of the body will depend on how well the musculature has been developed. If physical training is part of the Capricorn's daily routine, then it will be done with determination and discipline, resulting in a well-developed musculature which may make a Capricorn look heavier than he or she really is.

A typical Capricorn has a serious look, and young Capricorns often look older than their years. It is also typical that aging Capricorns eventually tend to become more relaxed and so look younger than their years.

Their Forehead is narrower than average between the temples, with deep frown lines. Their Style of walking is swift and sure because all typical Capricorns take great care of where they put their feet when they take each step.

Personality

Capricorns are generally recognized as: determined, practical, prudent, patient, cunning instead of forceful, ambitious, disciplined, perseverant, self-sufficient, cautious, conservative with money, humorous, dry incisive wit, reserved, and a strong sense of purpose.

A Capricorn Ascendant indicates individuals with energetic, success-oriented personalities, and determination to satisfy their personal goals. The shrewdness and open ambition associated with the sun or moon in Capricorn does not always show up so overtly in the personality of those with Capricorn Ascendant but these traits are present nevertheless. Most of them are very capable managers and supervisors, willing to accept responsibilities and positions of authority.

Capricorn is ruled by Saturn, planet of structure, restriction and longevity. It is often an indication of a difficult birth or restricted childhood. However, it doesn't matter what particular difficulties life presents to these individuals, their biggest challenge is always themselves. They are apt to be disappointed with some aspect of their personalities or appearance and may develop conflicting behavior to deal with these feelings when they surface. Some of these individuals practice strict self denial, while others abandon themselves to hedonistic pleasures as a form of self destruction. They may even exhibit both types of behavior. At every turn they confront fears and insecurity. How well they deal with the conflict marks their success as well adjusted adults.

Capricorn ruling the first house raises the competitive spirit and by no means dictates the presence of a somber or colorless personality. On the contrary, it implies individuals who are apt to possess overcompensating cheerful personalities, and they willingly accept responsibilities and hardships which they are apt to feel they were born to endure. There is always a choice to be made, and the right one is never easy because it usually involves success which must be earned.

Capricorn is symbolized by the Goat. They're motivated, determined and practical. They see no need to take unnecessary risks. Career is a major concern for them; advancement and recognition are alluring concepts. They are ambitious and strong, but also somewhat conservative. Capricorn is a cardinal earth sign and its energy is particularly earthy associated with the practical materialist. Saturn's influence can make Capricorn's a cold and calculating and uninterested in flights of fancy. Their energy is more ruthlessly realistic. However this hardness is balanced in its symbol - the goat - with a fishy tale, suggesting strange watery depths and spirituality. It is profound, serious energy.

On the shadow side: pessimistic, fatalistic, emotionally reserved, miserly, grudging, over conventional, rigid, can be spiteful, prideful, and have a need to be in control.

Romance

They maintain good relations with members of the opposite sex. They make good and true friends. They are capable of deep and passionate affections. However, in their search for greener pastures, they sometimes switch partners too quickly. They have to be discreet with the opposite sex as they can face some unpleasant situations.

The often traditional, somewhat reserved and usually cautious Sea Goat is certain to take some time to size up the stakes in the game of love. Capricorn knows what they want, and once they fix their eyes on the prize, will work hard to get it. These folks are winners and often attract the same. They also like things to be orderly and pretty and know that they'll get much more with honey than with vinegar. Focused as they are on appearances, Capricorn is likely to lure an attractive lover and one who will give them the full flush of love. Nothing could be sexier! The smart Sea Goat enjoys combining the practical and the romantic, which means that anything it does is likely to combine both work and play. Toiling with this prancing animal, though, can be loads of fun.

Love and Relation

Love horoscope Capricorn foresees some communicational problems in youth. They are distant with people and resists the infatuation, as they’re afraid to loose the devoted person and to suffer. Their instincts are not revealed for a long time. In fact, they are satisfied with minimum of pleasure, because wants minimum of pain. But a mask of ice indifference may conceal the strongest passion, which is restrained in order to be free from dangerous feelings. Love horoscope Capricorn predicts frustrations of any kind as a result of such behavior.

Some will try to fill emptiness inside, willing to gain power, or entertain themselves by collecting different things. Others become silent and may have serious nervous problems in a desert of egoism and avarice. Capricorn may resign himself to such a fate, living unhappily in solitude, as though indifference was a natural human state, or claim his loneliness to be a poof of his virtue and conceal dogmatism and acrimony under cover of false kindness.

Capricorn may suffer from some painful events, happened in the past. They refuses to forget a betrayal. Love horoscope Capricorn describes this sign as faithful, loyal, living a very vulnerable life.

Capricorn may live a lonely life, without love, for a long time, up to 40-50 years. Then, they opens their  mind to all that they rejected in the past. They begins to live a new exciting life.

Relationships: Once they experience solid friendship and True Love, most Capricorns come to realize that Life is more than mere ambition and hard work.

They are Cold and calculating at first impression but just lacking confidence. They are Loyal and steadfast, good parents. Many Capricorns elect to live alone and for to live for their work.

Because of their great teaching instinct, they often make the mistake of setting up a similar teacher-pupil relationship in their romantic affairs. Nothing could be more disastrous. Successful marriages thrive on equality and complementary qualities, not dominance and submission. However, once they are married, they become a wonderful parent, since they can thrive in the obvious teacher role that parenting provides -- it also gives the man heir to whom they can hand down their prized family legacy.

Taurus and Virgo are good business companions, but Scorpio may be the best. Their career is all-important to them and people of these Signs tend to harmonize with them toward the idea that the diligent life and constructive aims are the most important of values. There can be much sympathetic understanding for this reason. They like to be around Pisces, for they find a restful atmosphere in this quiet companionship.

Aries and Leo may be their competitors in business and career, and they may have little sympathy for their tendency to undertake advancement of an impulsive type.

Male

When it comes to sensuality they are probably the most persistent of all the signs. They will not take no for an answer. They will break down the resistance of whomever they pursue and they'll never go away empty handed. Love is a necessity in their mind. Their animal tendencies come out in the bedroom. They are not a cruel lover, just energetic and lustful. They prefer younger, naive women and they enjoy playing the role of the bedroom teacher. Unlike most men, when they become an old Goat they still have a strong sex drive and will continue to pursue younger mates. They do expect their woman to serve them, not only in the bedroom but where the traditional domestic chores are concerned. They want their partner to be a loyal friend, but will never accept her criticism. They will actively seek love through physical passion rather than being lovable.

Female

They tend to attract weak men. They are not easy to figure out and they have a tendency to turn on and off frequently. In actuality they are the type of female who is afraid of falling in love with the wrong person. When they do find Mr. Right they will be a true blue partner with powerful emotions. They will do anything for their lover; however he must satisfy all their needs. They like to keep busy and they take life quite seriously. They also take excellent care of themself. They dress with class, their neat, clean and somewhat formal. They love to be complimented by the man in their life.

An ideal love partner

Capricorn - Aries. Both have strong power, persistent and don’t commit serious mistakes. If they think that this situation is more suitable for a fight than for love, they may be right. They are compatible in bed, but will dispute about money, friends, career, about who is the one to take important decisions. A bit of jealousy will add fuel to the fire. This relationship is possible, but doubts about a happy marriage.

Capricorn - Taurus. Both are homebody, estimate financial status and highlight the importance of security. Taurus has patience; Capricorn is ready to work for a common objective – mutual pleasure. This couple may have any crazy sex idea – all the dreams will be fulfilled. Ambitions of Capricorn match purposefulness of Taurus. This relationship foresees bright perspectives in all relations.

Capricorn - Gemini. Opposite sexual natures. Gemini is impulsive and amative. Capricorn is slow, faithful and cautious. The initial attraction of the two opposite sides won’t last long. Gemini is versatile, communicative, witty, lively and intellectual; Capricorn is practical, ambitious, patient, reserved and careful. Relationship between them may be successful or may not be. One can't say anything about it. Each one is benefited from the other one. Capricorn provides stability to Gemini and Gemini gives encouragement to Capricorn. Capricorn's disciplined behavior keeps Gemini tied down.

Capricorn - Cancer. Cancer is a bit timid in sex, but Capricorn wants to be the leader. A frankness of both sides will be of much use in the beginning. Any understanding achieved in bed will help to develop the relation. They are the extremes of the Zodiac, and the results are corresponding. Capricorn will turn out to be too exigent and dominating for a sensitive Cancer. A very short romance is the most probable variant.

Capricorn - Leo. Leo thinks that Capricorn is full of love and is economical about it. Capricorn is not a good partner for Leo as he lacks imagination. Capricorn prefers to have more fire in bed. They are not very compatible physically as both are independent signs, willing to dominate outside the bedroom. During the relationship these differences won’t be much a trouble, but in marriage these contradictions will be clearly seen.

Capricorn - Virgo. Practical Capricorn matches perfectly orderly Virgo. Some misunderstanding in sex is possible, but otherwise it’s OK. They get on well and are not worried about small problems. Both are conservative, dependable, reliable. It’s a good base for a stable union. They both appreciate the practical side of life and work. Both are conscientious, with a strong sense of duty and responsibility both are well matched for business and practical matters but there could be a lack of feelings, warm emotions and a romantic sparkle. Capricorn admires the systematic, methodical, self-contained and logical ways.

Capricorn - Libra. Capricorn will admire sexual charm of Libra at first. But in a more close communication Libra seems to be too egoistic and don’t meet physical needs of Capricorn. Being unable to express its feelings, Capricorn will be looking for other partners. It’s not an easy relation. And marriage won’t be successful, unless there are great financial opportunities that attract Capricorn.

Capricorn - Scorpio. Harmonious sexual relationship. Scorpio is inventive, Capricorn is systematic. They are compatible in this field, and success in bed reveals new opportunities of their liaison. Both have strong will, but Scorpio is inclined to dominate. Capricorn understands that Scorpio manifests his power because it is the power of love. A passionate relationship and a lucky marriage.

Capricorn - Sagittarius. Capricorn is prudent, conservative and worries about security. Sagittarius is an extravagant and irresponsible player. Sagittarius will get irritated, while observing the behavior of a close-fisted and responsible Capricorn. There is a marked contrast in this relation. Independent, freedom-loving Sagittarius will not take kindly to being repressed or restricted by Capricorn, who in-turn, will not understand Sagittarian's inner longings, high ideals and impossible dreams. If they can bridge the gap and achieve a happy relationship, each will certainly benefit in the long term. This relationship is not the best one in the Zodiac. A marriage is unhappy.

Capricorn - Capricorn. The romantic life will turn into routine soon. They may be lucky lovers if they aspire to get less than initially expected. No experiments will widen the horizon. But on the other hand, both work much, serious and economical. A relation and marriage may appear to be not very joyful, but they can be quite satisfied with it.

Capricorn - Aquarius. The relationship will be subject to changes of moods, routine and attributes. Much personal readjustment will have to be made on both sides although these may not be easy to achieve because Aquarius is independent and stubborn about personal ideas while Capricorn can never fathom why Aquarius sometimes becomes unpredictable and capricious. This behavior undermines Capricorn desire for stability and security Aquarius likes adventures in sex, Capricorn prefers more traditional relations.  Freedom-loving inventive Aquarius can’t be in love with practical Capricorn for a long time. A satisfying relationship, but marriage will require efforts from both sides.

Capricorn - Pisces. These signs complement each other Pisces will try to play a trick on Capricorn, because that’s their nature. But Capricorn is able to cope with practical jokes of his partner. Pisces finds it easy amalgamate and can adapt to people and situation, which are safe and secure. Capricorn is a epitome of safety and security. Besides, Pisces are loving, sincere and can make Capricorn happy. These very different people supplement each other emotionally. This relationship gives a good prognosis for a relationship and marriage.

Compatibility

Compatible with: Cancer, Capricorn, Scorpio, Aquarius, Virgo, Taurus, and Pisces.

Incompatible with: Libra, Gemini, Sagittarius, Leo.

Their ideal partner is likely to be their opposing sign, Cancer. A Cancerian's highest goal is family perfection, something they obviously treasure as well. And while they can understand their sacrificial brooding side just as intensely, their outlook on life is more supportive, caring, and ultimately, more positive. They also get along well with their fellow hard-working earth signs, Taurus (whose loving nature will cheer them up and encourage them) and Virgo (who understands their perfectionism to a tee, and will work harmoniously with them to achieve it) In marriage, Pisces is too emotional, however, and their speech is not sympathetic enough for a good marital relationship.

They do not get along well with Aries (too impatient and impetuous for their slow-climb approach to life), Gemini (too whimsical, with little regard for their ideals), Leo (too outgoing for they to trust), and Sagittarius (a complete opposite -- they would never see eye to eye on anything).

Health

Capricorn rules the joints, hair, teeth and skin; the mucous membranes, the peripheral nerves and portions of the stomach. It also rules the skeleton, bones and patella. The accidents from this sign are broken bones, sprains, dislocations and hurts from the knees and below. Sensitive skin, allergies, and broken bones are problems, while worrying too much can also result in physical disorders.

Capricorn suffers from insecurity and anxiety in youth, but blossoms under Saturn in the later years. Capricorn people do not readily yield to disease, but once sick they hold onto the symptoms and can become hypochondriacs.

Capricorn Women generally suffers from Depression, discontentment, worries and the tendency to keep themselves extremely busy effects on their digestive system. Skin diseases, injuries to kneecap and dislocations of joints are the other most common problems that a Capri woman faces.
