SCORPIO

Flag of Scorpio

Flag

The Flag of Scorpio is dark red. It is the color of emotional saturation, passion and power. It also symbolizes suppression, demand, sublimated activity, suffering, threat and strained temper. It is erotic and evokes instincts. In contrast to the red of Aries, this darker tinge is less open, being more secretive. There is some concealment and hardness in this shade. Because of its saturation, it causes excitement of a more emotional nature rather than the physical, as does the red of Aries. Dark red correlates with the form of the triangle, the top and the upper sides round, like a heart.

Symbol - Scorpio

The symbols for Virgo and Scorpio are remarkably similar, since they are both created from an identical ‘m’ - an ancient medical symbol. Both Virgo and Scorpio are associated with medicine and healing. The two constellations of Virgo and Scorpio are extremely large and easily identifiable in the night sky. The enclosed shape in the symbol for Virgo and the ‘sting’ in the scorpion’s tale have been described as the feminine and masculine versions of the same symbol.

Comparison with its symbol

Comparison with the Scorpio symbol, the Scorpion:

Scorpions have "two lobster-like claws "(1) and when a scorpion captures its victims with its claws, it "inflicts a disabling sting with its tail". (2) Scorpios are thought to be rather cunning, and sometimes revengeful.

Dual nature of Scorpio: A second symbol for Scorpio is the Eagle. The Golden Eagle "has been regarded from ancient times as a symbol of courage and power". (3) The eagle represents clear vision, intelligence, and power. It is a majestic bird, and also symbolizes freedom. Scorpios, with their perceptiveness, have the potential to "see" things more clearly than others. How they handle the power of this vision will depend on whether they are at the level of a scorpion or an eagle!

Scorpio's glyph, or symbol, looks like a letter M with a tail. The curves show the grounded nature of the sign, ending in an upward-turned arrow, symbolizing the need for action and the striving for something higher. Some believe the symbol represents the male genitals -- the sign of Scorpio is strongly connected to sex.

Color

Scorpios have a strong, often forceful, yet magnetic personality and the colors which most appeal are the strong, deep reds, i.e. CRIMSON, along with rich BLUE, VIOLET or INDIGO tones. Scorpio's like to surround them with luxury and take great pride in their homes, having good taste and enjoying comfort. A Scorpio hates any form of deception, so furniture would likely be chosen for its honesty and purity of design. Because of the preferred, deep colors, the overall effect of the décor would tend to be somewhat sensuous and dramatic.

Scorpio

Scorpio is symbolized by the Scorpion. Intense and emotionally perceptive, they pick up on unspoken words and speak the language of gesture. Deep, mysterious and magnetically attractive, they yearn for emotional intimacy. If hurt, they really sting – and they don't forgive easily!

Scorpio is traditionally thought to be ruled by the planet Mars, but in recent years many astrologers have labeled Pluto as the ruler or co-ruler of Scorpio, attributing the intensity associated with the sign to the planet's influence. This planetary combo makes for people who are motivated, penetrating and aware.

On August 24, 2006, Pluto was no longer classified as a true planet and thus became a dwarf planet. It is not yet clear what effect this will have on the sign of Scorpio but some astrologers suggest that Mars will once again (as prior to the discovery of Pluto in 1931) become the primary ruling planet of Scorpio.

Symbol depicts the nocturnal scorpion who rose up to heaven and attacked Orion.

The sign of Scorpio is traditionally ruled by Mars, although Pluto has also been assigned ruler ship since its discovery in 1930. Physically it is related to the sexual organs and excretion. It is said to have a feminine nature, and is therefore more passive in its energy expression. As a Water sign it is connected with the world of emotions, particular the deep primeval emotions concerned with sexuality and survival. As a Fixed sign, its energy manifests in a stable manner, giving great determination and endurance. Planets in Scorpio seek to establish emotional security in a threatening world. Hence the association with jealousy and passion.

On the downside:  Abuse of power, the darker side of magic, fanatic, destructive, self-serving.

Their good qualities include: A spiritual outlook, ability to determine truth.
To consciously aid the transformations that will allow their maximum soul growth will be their lifes work.

Pluto Rules the Sign of Scorpio

Key Planet - Pluto

Pluto is the Lord of the Underworld. If this sounds scary, it demands a bit more explanation, for Pluto symbolizes everything that is beneath our consciousness. As the key planet for Scorpio, Pluto is intense and powerful, representing those things that we don't or can't understand. And it is from these hidden Plutonic spaces that magical transformations arise.

This is the most common glyph for Pluto. It is associated with spiritual changes, development, and political power. A person under the strong influence of this planet will experience many different upheavals in their life, such as rebirths (transformations and regenerations of both the spirit and the mind). It exerts much force in bringing about changes and plays a key role in identifying spiritual lessons during a lifetime.

Plutos energies are intense and when unleashed it can actually change their entire life, for good or evil, so much so that the person seems caught up in a whirlwind until the phase passes and leaves a complete set of new ideas, ideals, or morals instilled in the very core of their being. It also has a purifying energy that allows one to rise to higher levels of awareness. Before this rise can come about one must consciously seek to eliminate anything that would hinder them. Sometimes Plutos energies are perceived as destructive but they are, rather, a reflection of energy being returned to itself this effect has often been associated with the subversive elements of society and with the underground.

Due to the slow orbital journey it is seen as a generational influence, as with most of the outer planets, its natal house position has a much greater meaning. Its influence is neither mild or subtle, it destroys the old and builds the new.

Pluto plays an important role in bringing about many revolutionary changes in the life of Scorpios. The changes, rather upheavals, can be of monumental importance in various spheres of a Scorpio’s life-- personal, social, political or business culminating sometimes in his spiritual evolution. Each change from one sphere to another can be a landmark development. Pluto takes 248 years to complete the cycle of the zodiac. In the long and slow journey, it casts its powerful spell on its subjects as it moves along its orbit. It continues to exercise its impact on the lives of its subjects for generations, Its movement, long, slow as it is, heralds a sure process of evolution in the life of Scorpios.

Element - Water

Astrologically, the water element symbolizes emotion. Water runs deep; it seeks its own level and will flow until it has found it. The cycle of water is endless with the snows falling in the mountains and melting. The mountain streams join to make the great rivers that run to the sea. The tides and currents churn the oceans. Similarly, scorpions feelings are flowing as they connect the present with past experiences. Sometimes the waters are so deep that scorpions cannot put words to their feelings.

The water of Scorpio is fixed and frozen, but it is a mistake to think that ice doesn't flow. It does flow -- and with great power. Think of a glacier, moving so very slowly, yet with enough power to flatten a forest or even a mountain.

Eighth House - Transformation

Since the Second House is the House of Possessions, the Eighth House opposite it, is about what other people have. This can include sexual issues, for they usually involve another person. It is also about the ultimate transformation -- death -- but not necessarily their own. It could be said that the Eighth House is what we don't know and what we cannot understand. It is surely a House of Hidden Power.

Scorpio Greatest Strength: Their passion about their feelings.
Scorpio Possible Weakness: Need for secrecy can be isolating.

Origin

Scorpio's origins are as interesting and as complex as the sign itself. Before the twelve-month calendar was created, ancient astrologers viewed Virgo, Libra, and Scorpio all as one sign. Once divided, they came to symbolize aspects of the creation story in the book of Genesis, as follows:

Leo is Adam; Virgo is Eve, the virgin (as well as the Garden of Eden itself -- Virgo symbolizes harvest, and is an earth sign); Libra is the tree of knowledge, symbolizing justice and right and wrong; and Scorpio is of course the serpent. Since the apple hangs from the tree, the fall of Adam comes through Libra -- hence, it is the first sign of the fall season. And since Scorpio rules the reproductive organs, a rebirth occurs through Scorpio that gives rise to the three intellectual, wise signs that follow.

Adding to the complexity of Scorpio is the fact that it is ruled by not one but two planets, Mars and Pluto. Of course, Pluto was not discovered until 1930, so this is a fairly recent interpretation. It is widely agreed that Pluto is the rightful ruler, but now debated whether Mars indeed has an influence or not. We'll assume that it does, until proven otherwise. Tuesday (mardi), then, is the best day of the week for scorpions.

Sun in Scorpio

Oct 21 - Nov 20: This place is in aversion to the exaltation of the Sun. This means that the power of Nous is directed toward hidden and occult matters, of which one of the greatest mysteries is that of the nature of life (the Sun) and death (Scorpio). Because of this, these natives seem to be more keenly aware of the fragile nature of life and tend not to take it for granted, living life to the fullest. Nous here creates an understanding that knowledge is power. Because of the aversion, the will develops a covert side that is not easily seen indicating a hidden agenda. This can also be understood to be the 4th house of the Sun (from Leo), again showing the hidden nature of the will and developing an understanding (hypostasis) of the foundation of [their] power. They dislike careless displays of power and pompous attitudes and tend to understate their own capabilities. In addition, because it is not easy to see (aspect) what motivates these individuals, they have a tendency to be underestimated by others and frequently are seen as the underdog. The awareness of motivation is keenly developed and often the focus of their life is based upon a contest of wills. Those born with this are said to have great determination and will power and will see things through to the bitter end.

Scorpios are known for their intensity. They are determined folk that absolutely throw themselves into whatever they do -- but getting them to commit to something is rarely an easy task. In fact, it's better not to even try to "get them" to do anything. Solar Scorpios absolutely have their own mind. And, their primary motivation is unlikely to be prestige (like their Capricorn friends), or even authority (Leos can have that, too) -- it's real power. Their power can absolutely be of the "behind the scenes" variety, just as long as they have it.

To others, Scorpios seem to have plenty of willpower. They probably do. Scorpios do know what they want, and they won't go out and grab it at the wrong moment. They simply sit back, watch (quite expertly), and then get it only when the moment is just right. This apparent patience is simply their powerful skills at strategy at work.

Scorpio isn't afraid of getting their hands (their bodies, their minds) dirty. The darker side of life intrigues them, and they're always ready to investigate.

In a diurnal chart, the heat and dryness of the Sun are augmented. The dryness creates distinctions and the heat purifies intentions so that motivations of self and others are consciously understood and dealt with more directly and openly. There is greater willfulness and open confrontation leading to quicker resolution of conflicts of interest, but at the same time with greater acrimony. This individual is more extroverted.

In a nocturnal chart, the cool and moist of night tend to negate the hot and dry nature of the Sun. Intentions become muddied and motivations unclear and therefore the native is less willful and feels less secure and self assured. The native will tend to act unconsciously and instinctively. This individual is more introverted and tends not to seek open confrontation to resolve conflicts, but will do so secretly.

Scorpios simply never give up. They have tremendous staying power. They're not in the slightest intimidated by anybody or anything. Confrontations are not a problem. In fact, talk to any Scorpio about their lives, and they'll probably be in awe at all they've gone through. Trauma seems to follow them wherever they go. When Scorpio learns optimism, instead of expecting the worst, they'll find that they possess amazing regenerative powers -- the power to heal, create, and transform.

Some Famous people with Sun in Scorpio:  Ed Asner (Sun, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and Ascendant in Scorpio), Lauren Bessette (Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Scorpio), Bjork (Sun and Moon in Scorpio), Lisa Bonet (Sun and Mercury in Scorpio), John Cleese (Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio), Danny DeVito, Leonardo DiCaprio (Sun, Venus, and Mars in Scorpio), Richard Dreyfuss (Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio), Sally Field, Bill Gates, Calista Flockhart, Jodie Foster (Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio), Whoopi Goldberg (Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Scorpio), John Gotti (organized crime boss - Sun and Mercury in Scorpio), Harry Hamlin (Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Scorpio), Ethan Hawke (Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio, Shere Hite (who published the Hite Report on Sexuality - Sun, Venus, and Mars in Scorpio),Rock Hudson, Demi Moore (Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio), Pablo Picasso, Prince Charles, Puff Daddy (Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio), Julia Roberts (Sun and Mercury in Scorpio), Meg Ryan (Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio), David Schwimmer (Sun, Moon, and Venus in Scorpio), Nicolette Sheridan, Maria Shriver.

Moon in Scorpio

The Moon represents the physical body, feelings, attachments and support that we have in this world, but Scorpio often is about letting go and sacrifice and death. Therefore it should be no surprise that the Moon is in its fall in this sign and as a result of this, that the cosmic soul sees little merit in lunar issues here. After all, what good are emotions and a physical body when the issue of more importance is one of letting go, sometimes through death? The Moon here, then, goes against nature. The Moon is in the 5th house from itself, which is like Leo (exposure - lack of protection as opposed to natural cancerian Moon which is more secluded). The native's needs and domestic support have a harder time getting the ear of the cosmic court. Therefore, it is the case that Mars as lord of the Moon asks for these things on the natives behalf according to its own martial nature. Others will tend to perceive this as manipulative because Mars can be pushy in its requests. There is also a tendency to take emotional issues personally, and to lack objectivity for the same reason. The underlying theme here is that the native needs to learn self-reliance. If they insist on remaining attached too long to worldly supports, they may eventually succumb to jealousy and revenge. On the plus side, the native is sharply aware of emotional issues and has a deep understanding of human nature.

While others may find security and comfort in material things, Moon in Scorpio people seek out emotional intensity. No matter what, there is something very intense about Lunar Scorpios. They are diggers when it comes to the world of emotion--they can see beyond facades and cut right to the core of a person. This ability to "see" what isn't obvious to the rest of the world can be intimidating to others or wildly attractive, depending on the audience.

Their deep-seated need for transformation and rebirth can manifest itself in the lives of Lunar Scorpios in different ways. Most have powerful, emotionally intense lives. Some feel like it is beyond their control -- these natives seem to attract emotional upheaval, and their lives appear to consist of plenty of dramatic ups and downs. However, when accepted as an emotional need, rebirth and change doesn't need to be so dramatic and overwhelming. In some way or the other, Moon in Scorpio natives seek out intense experiences. If their lives are regular in any way, there can be an unconscious need to test their own strength and stir up emotional excitement. Self-awareness and acceptance is probably the best way to handle this deep need for emotional drama.

Doing things halfway or having meaningless relationships simply doesn't fulfill them. Lunar Scorpios want all or nothing.

Moon in Scorpio people often have a strong fear of betrayal. They seek out commitment, and feel the need for a partner to give up something for them. Some will put the people they love through a series of tests, and these are not always conscious. Their apparent suspicion can be trying for the people who love them. However, once committed, Moon in Scorpio people can be the most loyal and protective partners around.

Even the shy ones have enormous presence. Their lives are emotion-driven, yet many Moon in Scorpio natives spend a lot of time controlling and mastering their emotions. Their intuition is enormous, although it is sometimes self-serving.

Moon in Scorpio people radiate strength. Even in the absence of experience, they seem to "just know" things. It would be difficult to shock or scare away Lunar Scorpios in the face of emotional honesty and power. Some people instinctively want to lean on them, and other less brave folk run a little scared. Lunar Scorpios have exceptional "radar" that allows them to size up a situation--and a person--quickly and expertly. This ability to understand human motivation and nature can be too close for comfort for some, and enormously comforting for others.

In a diurnal chart, the heat and dryness of the day counteract the cool and wet nature of the Moon. The expression of feeling does not flow as easily and there may be inhibition and shyness. They can be fearful of exposing their true feelings and needs to others, preferring an indirect approach to getting what they want. They tend to be more self-reliant and sometimes it can be hard to get to know these natives well.

In a nocturnal chart, the cool and moist of night amplify the same qualities in the Moon. The lack of distinction and separateness may lead to clinginess and disrespect for personal boundaries. At the same time this allows for easier expression of feelings. There is usually less shyness and inhibition but at the same time they tend to be more dependant occasionally leaving themselves vulnerable to being emotionally let down.

Many Lunar Scorpios are intelligent and astute. Those that use their enormous powers for intimacy and honesty are the happiest, and they make the most interesting and rewarding friends and lovers.

Some Famous people with Moon in Scorpio:  Ben Affleck, Lauren Bessette (Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Scorpio), Bjork, Eminem, Whoopi Goldberg (Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Scorpio), Harry Hamlin (Sun, Moon, and Mercury in Scorpio), Elizabeth Hurley, Avril Lavigne, Alanis Morissette, David Schwimmer (Sun, Moon, and Venus in Scorpio), Steven Spielberg (Moon and Venus in Scorpio), Patrick Stewart.

Stars

Scorpio Constellation Stars:

Scorpius can be seen in summer from the Northern Hemisphere, but is best seen from the Southern Hemisphere or southern US.

A large and important zodiacal constellation. Among many bright stars, it contains the well-known red giant, Antares, as well as many star clusters and other objects. Antares  is a reddish star and is considered the heart of the scorpion.

Scorpius contains many bright stars, including Antares (α Sco), β1 Sco (Graffias), δ Sco (Dschubba), θ Sco (Sargas), λ Sco (Shaula), ν Sco (Jabbah), ξ Sco (Grafias), σ Sco (Alniyat), τ Sco (also known as Alniyat) and υ Sco (Lesath).

The star once designated γ Sco (despite being well within the boundaries of Libra) is today known as σ Lib.

λ Sco and υ Sco, two stars at the end of the scorpion's tail that appear very close together, are sometimes referred to as the Cat's Eyes.

Mercury in Scorpio

Since the physical (the Moon) tends to be deemphasized in this sign, Mercury can be quite comfortable here despite its lack of essential dignity. Natives with this position are capable of feats of mind over matter and have great control over their minds and communication. In general, they tend to be quite reserved but are precise and economical with their words when they do express themselves. They can have a sarcastic or acerbic wit at times and are suspicious of the motives of others. They tend toward conspiratorial thinking and guard secrets very carefully.

In a diurnal chart, the dryness leads to distinctions and separation and the heat to purification. The natives communication may tend to be sarcastic. They tend to be sharp, analytical and to the point. They are inherently skeptical and are less prone to believe in conspiracy theories than their nocturnal counterparts.

In a nocturnal chart, the wetness of night blurs distinctions and the coldness brings seemingly unconnected things together in closer proximity. In this situation, logos is likely to create connections where they may be none leading to conspiratorial thinking and suspicion. There may be a marked increase in paranoia as a result.
These people are on an eternal quest to get to the very heart of any matter. This appears in anything that requires thought, and in almost every conversation they have. Totally fearless when it comes to delving into depths that nobody else wants, or even thinks, to explore, Mercury in Scorpio is adept at learning the source and the core of any problem or issue. They are blessed (or cursed, depending on how they want to look at it) with the observation skills of a surveillance camera, seeming to just see all and know all. Sometimes they can be quite "dark" because of their tendency to focus on the false in order to get to the truth. These people detest superficiality. They come across as suspicious and can annoy other; more optimistic people with their negative take on things.

Scorpio communicators are passionate in their speech, sometimes even given to lecturing. Remember, though, that they are just as passionate about giving the real advice and help. They are quite willing to let others in on a few of their secrets--regarding other people, that is, not themselves. The truth is, they have observed things that many have not. If their observations seem a little bit skewed toward the negative, they try to overlook it. They may just discover that they've given some of the best advice around. They are at their best when they are talking about things that they are not personally involved with. That is when their shrewd judgment shines. It is when they are personally involved that their judgment can get clouded over.

Their intelligence is absolutely instinctive. Strategies are their specialty. Their idea of constructive criticism can be interpreted as destructive criticism, depending on their audience. It can be very hard to win an argument or debate with Mercury in Scorpio. They are absolutely driven to win, not just for the sake of scoring intellectual points, but simply to come out on top in general. Besides that, it is hard to deny that their thinking is really quite lucid, at least in presentation. They may be gritting their teeth, but it will be hard not to concede.

They'll staunchly support and defend anyone they care about. And, their energy in speech (or sheer intensity) can be motivating.

They are naturally suspicious, expecting bad intentions first. Mercury in Scorpio people loves intrigue, mystery, and hidden motives. If they don't channel this interest into mental pursuits, they can end up creating their own mysteries. Others might start wondering if they are paranoid.

Mercury in Scorpio loves anything that challenges the brain and are often interested in what makes people tick.

Some Famous people with Mercury in Scorpio:  Tyra Banks, Lauren Bessette, Lisa Bonet, John Cleese, E. E. Cummings, Walt Disney, Richard Dreyfuss, Sarah Ferguson, Jodie Foster (Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio), Whoopi Goldberg, John Lennon, Demi Moore, Sinead O'Connor, Pablo Picasso, Puff Daddy, Julia Roberts (Sun and Mercury in Scorpio).

Venus in Scorpio

Venus in Scorpio people attract others with their intensity and willingness to commit. They have a strong and concentrated manner, which suggests their feelings run deep. Their actions in love tend to promise deep commitment and sexual pleasure, even if they are not telling them this directly. Their appeal lies in their focus on them, and their dedication. Venus in Scorpio seems fearless when it comes to intimacy. Potential lovers get the feeling that Venus in Scorpio will never stray, that they are intensely loyal to the one they love. They possess them, and somehow make it seem attractive to be possessed.

Venus in Scorpio men and women give them their complete attention. These people are very focused on their partners. Depending on their personality, they may find this unnerving or entirely flattering. They have a strong need to control their partner, although this won't be immediately apparent, and they may not ever admit to this. Their body-and-soul love and commitment can be so intense that it eclipses fun and makes loving them a very heavy experience. Their emotion and intensity may seem overdone to those looking for a more lighthearted relationship. These people take things to extremes, and can be very provocative. Although they want to explore all of their nooks and crannies, they won't always be forthcoming with their own. When they've upset these lovers, they'll know it. Depending on the moment, Venus in Scorpio will shoot the one of the most piercing glares around, or totally blow up. Whichever style they choose, a slighted Scorpio lover is not a pretty sight. These people can be jealous of all of their attachments, but few will admit it. They're not afraid of being underhanded in matters of the heart, and they are experts at cutting through all the fluff and seeing them for what they are. Still, they may find their conclusions about they seem skewed and mistrustful.

According to medieval tradition, Venus is in detriment in this sign. This means that issues like beauty, elegance, social refinement and diplomacy are not well supported here. Because Venus is being represented by Mars, the line between love and hate can seem very thin. Love often takes on a magnetic quality and can become a fatal attraction. Attractions tend to be very strong and repulsions equally strong. In the event of rejection there is the tendency for these natives to take it much more personally than most. Jealousy and possessiveness are very common and they often expect faithfulness even if they tend toward sexual promiscuity. Like those with the Moon in this sign, they have a hard time with self-reliance, letting go, and forgiveness and tend to hold grudges. When they find the right mate it is usually a very enduring relationship, although it may be somewhat rocky at times.

In a diurnal chart, the heat and dryness of the day counteract the cool and moist nature of Venus. Because the heat rarifies and purifies, there is less likelihood of promiscuity unless Venus is oriental of the Sun. The dryness tends to create social separation. As a result, these natives may tend to play hard to get in romantic settings.

In a nocturnal chart, the cool and moist of night intensify the same qualities in Venus. There is greater sexual magnetism and because of the blurring of distinctions there may be more sexual promiscuity. The cold groups that which is alike and unlike together in closer proximity. The combination may create a tendency for the native to not understand where personal boundaries lie, causing strong attractions and repulsions, clinginess, and stalking, to be a significant issue in their life.

Pleasing Venus in Scorpio involves demonstrating their complete commitment and loyalty to them. Appreciate their guts when it comes to love and intimacy -- they're proud of their courage in these matters. If they can, and they deserve, relinquish some of the control in the relationship. Let them feel they own them, without taking it to extremes. Remember, though, that some Venus in Scorpio lovers can and will take advantage of them on a subtle level, if only to keep them all to themselves. Let them have their secrets and their silences.

Some Famous people with Venus in Scorpio:  Matt Damon, Leonardo DiCaprio (Sun, Venus, and Mars in Scorpio), Jodie Foster (Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Scorpio), Bill Gates, Shere Hite (sex researcher, published the Hite Report), Katie Holmes, Avril Lavigne, Annie Lennox, Demi Moore, Puff Daddy, Susan Sarandon (Venus and Mars in Scorpio), David Schwimmer, Alicia Silverstone, Steven Spielberg (Moon and Venus in Scorpio), Tiger Williams.

Mars in Scorpio

Mars in Scorpio natives love to challenge themselves to do the impossible. They throw themselves into what they decide to do with concentrated energy and awesome willpower.

Mars is essentially dignified here. This means that actions, aggression, decisions and forcefulness are supported with Mars in this sign. Because of the "ongoing" nature of the solid signs of which this is one, Mars gains the quality of determination and persistence that is usually absent when Mars is in the other sign of its dignity, Aries. Hence these natives are persistent and determined with an intense unrelenting drive. This position is good for those who pursue careers in the military or medicine, particularly surgery. They are extremely self reliant, efficient, courageous, resourceful and self disciplined, but they are extremely uncompromising. They tend to go for all or nothing. Due to the aversion (lack of aspect - seeing) Mars has to the other sign of its dignity, Aries, actions take on a secret and hidden quality. As a result, it is difficult to fathom their motives. This combination makes for great spies and those who are most formidable as enemies.

These people make formidable opponents, although often quietly so. They keep their cool and their equilibrium on the surface. Below the surface may be another story, and they are unlikely to easily let they in. Mars in Scorpio has the potential to exploit others -- these people see through others, and rely heavily on their gut feelings.

The sexual stamina of this position is thought to be the strongest of all the positions of Mars. Sometimes, Mars in Scorpio people are attracted to taboos, and their fantasies may involve blowing the taboos to smithereens! They enjoy scenarios in which the "other" is giving in to them, wants them completely, and will do absolutely anything for them. And, their sexual appeal is strong enough that they generally do get what they want.

They find it difficult to share their partners, though they will likely never admit this. In stark contrast to Mars in Libra, who is most comfortable with the middle ground, Mars in Scorpio has a black-or-white philosophy of life. These are the people who say, "Just choose!" They really are not comfortable with compromise--what kind of satisfaction could they possibly get from compromise? Real living, to Mars in Scorpio, is all about accepting challenges and making changes.

These people constantly test themselves, and, often, others. They make all kinds of rules and goals, just for the personal satisfaction that comes from achieving or mastering them. Their survival instincts are strong, and they embrace their own animal nature when they are all alone with themselves, without guilt.

These people have a provocative quality to them. This quality is usually most evident in youth, though it is often carried over into adulthood in more subtle, controlled ways.

In a diurnal chart, the dryness of the day adds to the dryness of Mars. The heat of the day purifies the actions and intent. There may be a single minded or fanatical persistence in the pursuit of goals as a result. The temper becomes harder to control and there may be more frequent outbursts of anger. The dryness creates distinction and separation, which might make them less sensitive to how their actions affect others. They are not as likely to compromise to accommodate others needs as a result.

In a nocturnal chart, the cool and moist of night temper the excessively dry nature of Mars. There is greater sensitivity and a willingness to consider different strategies because the cool and moistness blur distinctions while grouping the various possibilities together in closer proximity. The native is more successful in military endeavors or other projects with smoother uninterrupted execution. The element of surprise is frequently theirs because of the dyadic nature of this sect and the aversion to its primary house as stated above.

Mars in Scorpio natives who have low self-esteem can become mighty twisted. Instead of beating themselves up, they turn self-loathing outward, and end up manipulating others and feeling resentful.

Some Famous people with Mars in Scorpio:  Jennifer Aniston, Billy Bragg, Leonardo DiCaprio (Sun, Venus, and Mars in Scorpio), Mel Gibson, John Goodman, Shere Hite (sex researcher, published the Hite Report), Susan Sarandon (Venus and Mars in Scorpio), Howard Stern, Oprah Winfrey.

Jupiter in Scorpio

Because Jupiter is ruled by Mars which is in aversion to Aries forthrightness, these natives may be interested in philosophical and religious matters related to death and ethical issues relating to secrecy or privacy. The native may be fortunate with regard to inheritance or acquisition due to negligent or ill-conceived actions of others. They sometimes become involved in expeditions, which involve treasure hunting and be unusually fortunate in this area. "Finders keepers, losers weepers" comes to mind because Scorpio often deals with what is lost or let go. There is probably interest in the occult and often the native finds him or herself trying to find the correct path to follow under morally or ethically ambiguous circumstances. Conflicts of interest and the need to refuse one’s self for the sake of integrity is commonplace. For those born with this position, the answers to life's questions always seem to bring up more questions than answers. This is because there is often a war being fought over the truth.

In a diurnal chart, the heat of the day purifies the native's philosophy and the dryness helps makes the path clearer for otherwise normally ambiguous situations. They are good at handling the resources of others and may be fortunate with inheritance. They may also gain from the rash actions or wrongful behavior of others. They may be good at investigating losses and finding hidden resources or lost objects. Archaeology may be a key interest.

In a nocturnal chart, the coolness of night creates complications in the natives philosophical path because things of like and unlike nature are concentrated together while the wetness blurs distinction between what is right and wrong. The native may be tempted to give up on morality and issues of ethicality because there is a constant war fought over the truth. Justice when finally arrived at may be poetic.

Saturn in Scorpio

The principle of agnoia combines with the great unknown here. This has the effect of deepening any mysteries that may exist in the natives life. Related to this, they sometimes have a very morbid side or an obsession with death or the occult. Some say that this position creates sexual inhibition or perversion but Schmidt says that association happened because the French called sex "Le petit mort" meaning "the little death". Some have serious issues with lack of security or having to deal with an unsafe environment. As a result, they tend to be gravely serious in temperament and sometimes lack a sense of humor. They often feel like they have been made a scope goat, suffering because of the actions of others, frequently having to correct their mistakes. This is because of the aversion Saturn's ruler has to its primary house. This sometimes puts them in the awkward situation of having to take responsibility for something without having the authority. They take responsibility very seriously and work extremely hard to achieve their ambitions. They pursue their work and ambitions with great intensity and can be relentless and persevering in the face of difficulties. Their ability to achieve the seemingly impossible comes from their agnoia (not knowing) of how to quit.

In a diurnal chart, the heat of the day counteracts Saturn's excessively cold nature. There is less uncertainty (agnoia) about ambitions and goals. There is greater moderation in routine and greater clarity in issues of authority and responsibility. This is due to the fire of the day rarifying opportunities for breakdown in command structures. As a result, these natives tend to achieve above average success in corporate positions.

In a nocturnal chart, the cool and moist of night magnify the agnoia of Saturn. Because the native tends to lack clear boundaries for responsibilities, they may either tend to take all responsibility or none at all. In the former case they have a tendency to overwork themselves. If the chart is eminent, they achieve great success. If not, they achieve censure for overstepping their bounds while another takes the credit. In the latter case, they may become outcasts, vagabonds or homeless developing an acute hatred for aristocracy.

Uranus in Scorpio

Uranus was last in Scorpio between 1975 and 1981. During this time the first personal computers were being developed, consumer electronics were becoming more compact and videotape recordings were made possible. Some say that Uranus is exalted in this sign. This is probably because Scorpio was associated with change by psychological astrologers who were uncomfortable with Scorpio's negative "death" image. All signs involve change, but the change for Scorpio is more dramatic. Uranus is also an indicator of sudden change and surprises and hence the match. The scientific symbol for Uranus is the circle with a dot in the center with an upward pointing arrow. It is like combining the Sun and Mars into one symbol. Both the Sun and Mars are exceedingly hot and dry in nature. This generation will probably have a rebellious undercurrent and will probably try to upset the status quo more than most generations. Many will have a talent for computer science, engineering and mechanics and may make breakthroughs in artificial intelligence.

In a diurnal chart, the hot and dry nature of the day amplifies these same qualities in Uranus. The result is that some individuals with close aspects from inner planets will be prone to open rebellion. They will tend to stick to their principles. They generally have good insight into how to use technology to their advantage and make excellent engineers who are able to work around difficult problems.

In a nocturnal chart, the cool and moist of night inhibit the hot and dry nature of Uranus so that rebellion is either more covert or eliminated. For those with close aspects from inner planets to Uranus in this sign, change may be abrupt and tend to take them completely by surprise because they were not conscious of the need for it.

Neptune in Scorpio

Neptune was last in this sign between 1956 and 1970. This period started with the mob being attacked and brought down from within by those who betrayed confidence. . The beginnings of the drug culture took root in ghettos and then spread to the hippie movement as a result. Many born during this time have escapist tendencies. A few will be mystical and visionary and may have psychic ability or musical talent. They tend to set themselves against the status quo and may appear degenerate if Neptune has great importance in the chart.

In a diurnal chart, the heat and dryness of the day counteract the cool and moist nature of Neptune. These natives will be less sensitive to drugs and less likely to abuse them than their nocturnal counterparts. They are less prone to psychic ability but may be talented in music if they have close aspects from inner planets to Neptune here.

In a nocturnal chart, the cool and moist of night amplify these same qualities in Neptune. This half of the generation will tend to be more escapist and drug oriented. Some will instead have psychic ability and seek to use their talents in an inspiring manner.

Pluto in Scorpio

According to Dane Rudhyar, Pluto is at its fastest pace in this sign, which he called its "seed phase. Pluto was in Scorpio between 1983 and 1995. This period sparked the beginning of the new age movement and great advances in medical technology and genetics. Homeopathic and other alternative medical practices were flourishing. Communism collapsed and was hailed as a victory for democracy, but led to greater uncertainty and insecurity because the enemy became "unknown" able to advance through terrorism. Concern developed over nuclear power, the Chernobyl disaster and "loose nukes". The symbolism speaks of generation and corruption and the power of life and death. Those with close aspects from the inner planets to Pluto in this sign may have important roles in national security or intelligence agencies. Some may become famous by personal association with national incidents.

Astrology

Scorpio is an astrological sign, which is associated with the constellation Scorpios. Under the tropical zodiac, Scorpio is occupied by the Sun from October 23 to November 22, and under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from November 16 to December 15. The opposite sign to Scorpio is Taurus, and both signs are commonly considered the most sexually responsive of all zodiacal members.

Scorpio is the eighth sign of the Zodiac and associated with intensity and power. Individuals born under this sign are thought to have a complex, emotional, analytical, focused, determined, hypnotic, and self-contained character, but one which is also prone to extremity, jealousy, possessiveness, stubbornness, and cruelty.

In some astrology, Scorpio is associated with the classical element Water, and thus called a Water Sign (with Cancer and Pisces). Scorpio is also one of the four Fixed signs (along with Taurus, Leo, and Aquarius). Its polar opposite is Taurus. Scorpio is the domicile of Mars (since its discovery, Pluto has been considered Scorpio's ruling or co-ruling planet by many modern astrologers). Each astrological sign is assigned a part of the body, viewed as the seat of its power. Scorpio rules the genitals. The symbols for Scorpio are the scorpion, the eagle, serpent and the phoenix.

Scorpius (Latin for scorpion) is one of the constellations of the zodiac. In western astrology it is known as "Scorpio". It lies between Libra to the west and Sagittarius to the east. It is a large constellation located in the southern hemisphere near the center of the Milky Way.

Scorpio is traditionally thought to be ruled by the planet Mars, but in recent years many astrologers have labeled Pluto as the ruler or co-ruler of Scorpio, attributing the intensity associated with the sign to the planet's influence.

Mythology

Scorpio resembles, quite noticeably, a scorpion's tail, and a vague body. According to Greek mythology, it corresponds to the scorpion, which was sent by Gaia (or possibly the goddess Hera) to kill the hunter Orion, the scorpion rising out of the ground at the goddess' command to attack. Although the scorpion and Orion appear together in this myth, the constellation of Orion is almost opposite to Scorpius in the night sky. It has been suggested that this was a divine precaution to forestall the heavenly continuation of the feud.

Scorpio - Latin for "the Scorpion" (Skorpios in Greek). This fearsome Scorpion figured in an argument between the wild, untamed, virgin goddess of the hunt, Artemis and the legendary gigantic Greek hunter, Orion. There are at least three versions as to the reason for this argument between Artemis and Orion. However, in each version of the story, Artemis used her Scorpion to sting and kill the hunter Orion.

In the earliest versions of the myth, Artemis was apparently quite in love with Orion. However, because Orion was in love with the goddess Eos (goddess of the Dawn) - Artemis arranged for Orion to be killed by the Scorpion out of her sense of spite, rage, and jealousy. In another version, Artemis used the Scorpion to kill Orion in revenge for having raped her. In still another version, Orion had boasted to the gods that he was such a great hunter that he could single-handedly kill every last animal on earth. Artemis, goddess of the hunt, used her deadly Scorpion to prove Orion wrong.

In many versions, however, Apollo sent the scorpion after Orion, having grown jealous of Artemis' attentions to the man. Later, in contrition for killing her friend, Apollo helped Artemis hang Orion's image in the night sky. However, the scorpion was also placed up there, and every time it appears on the horizon, Orion starts to sink into the other side of the sky, still running from the attacker.

Scorpius also appears in one version of the story of Phaethon, the mortal son of Helios, the sun. Phaethon asked to drive the sun-chariot for a day. Phaethon lost control of the chariot. The horses, already out of control, were scared by the great celestial scorpion with its sting raised to strike, and the inexperienced boy lost control of the chariot, as the sun wildly went about the sky (this is said to have formed the constellation Eridanus). Finally, Zeus struck him down with a thunderbolt to stop.

The Chinese included these stars in the Azure Dragon, a powerful but benevolent creature whose rising heralded spring.

In Maori mythology, this constellation can be Maui's magic jawbone (used to fish up the North Island of New Zealand), the front of Tama-rereti's waka (used to ferry the stars into the sky) or one of the posts Tane used to hold Ranginui (the sky-father) in the sky. While three posts (Sirius, Matariki/The pleides and Orion) hold up the top half of Ranginui, only a single post (Scorpius) supports the lower half of his body. It therefore appears bent under the weight.

The suggestion was agreed upon and all the sons busied themselves to get ready for the departure and their quest of the coveted kingship. The mother asked first that her eldest son should take her with him in his canoe. Dümur flatly refused, since his mother wanted to take many possessions the weight of which would impede the movement of his canoe. Then Ligedaner turned to each of her other sons only to discover that none of them would be willing to grant her request. Finally only the youngest son, Pleiades, was left. Pleiades did not object to his mother boarding his canoe or her bringing seven possessions. When the canoe had been lowered into the water, Ligedaner asked her son to load one object after the other in his canoe and gave him instructions as to where to place and fasten each one.

When all was ready, Pleiades started to row. One can imagine his surprise when the canoe shot forward with the greatest of ease, without his having to use the oars. The seven objects his mother brought turned out to be, in fact, previously unknown sail rigging. Driven by the wind the canoe overtook all the brothers' boats and in no time it closed in on Dümur's canoe. Dümur now ordered, on the strength of his right as the first-born son that his youngest brother should hand over the canoe to him. With heavy heart Pleiades obeyed. However, Ligedaner now played a mean trick on her eldest son. She turned the canoe around and then jumped with Pleiades into the sea, taking with her the yardarm of the sail. And so they swam on to the island in the East. In order to sail at all Dümur was forced to fasten the sail to his shoulders. This is why he has now a bent back. While Dümur tacked to get his canoe on course again, Ligedaner and Pleiades continued to their destination.

When Dümur finally reached the island and discovered that his youngest brother had become King of the Stars, he was so enraged that he wished never to see Pleiades again. This separation of Dümur and Pleiades can still be observed in the night sky. When Pleiades rises in the East, Dümur, or the star Antares, sets in the West. The bent back of Dümur can also still be seen in the curved line formed by the three bright stars and the line of fainter stars outlining his bent body in Scorpius.

Orion Boasted that so great was his might and skill as a hunter that he could kill all the animals on the face of the Earth.  Gaea, Goddess of Earth, was alarmed at such a boastful and inappropriate statement.  Gaea decided that Orion must be killed just in case he might one day decide to carry out his boast.  So Gaea sent a giant scorpion to Orion and ordered the beast to sting Orion.  As mighty as Orion was, after only a brief battle, the scorpion managed to deliver the hunter a deadly sting.  Scorpius stung Orion on the heel (at the star Rigel).  Orion and the scorpion were given honored places in the sky, but they were placed at opposite ends of the great sky dome so that they would never engage in battle again.  Although there are other storied about how Orion met his death, this one is the most common.

In New Zealand, the constellation is not seen as a scorpion, but as a heavenly fishhook.

The Mayans of Central America named Scorpius "the Sign of the Death-god".

The Romans at one time called Scorpius "the Lurking One".

The ancient people of Asia called the evil Antares "the Grave Digger of Caravans".

The Chinese looked on Antares as a star to be worshipped as a safeguard against fire.  They named the star Huo Shing, meaning "the Fire Star".

The farther south one travels until reaching the middle latitudes of the Southern Hemisphere, the higher the Scorpion rises above the southern horizon. In doing so, it seems that the Scorpion also loses its image of being an evil creature.

Characteristics

Scorpios are the most powerful, energetic and intense personalities in zodiac. They may outwardly appear calm, self-controlled or even pleasant, but, within, they are volcanoes of intense emotional energy.

When their energies are unleashed, they cause stormy upheavals whether for better or worse. The Scorpio plays a new role with different goals, morals and ideals in every next phase of his life. The influence of Pluto assists the Scorpios to identify their new roles, which become the raison de etre of their life. Pluto’s energy elevates Scorpios to higher levels of awareness in their chosen spheres of interest. Scorpios ruthlessly wipe off any hindrance that comes in their path towards the achievement of their goals.

Scorpios’ energies may take a destructive route too, though this destruction may, sometimes, prove to be a prerequisite for a new construction for the better.

The fundamental premise about Scorpios is that they are the reservoirs of restless energy raring to burst at their seams, or just trying to shoot up towards higher levels. The horoscope of a Scorpio with Pluto in the natal chart may reveal the true implications of its influence: a Scorpio is intense, powerful and revolutionary.

A Scorpio has keen, watchful, irresistible and hypnotic eyes, which appear to pierce through the heart and find the truth within it. A Scorpio is a man of extreme likes and dislikes. He is stubbornly outspoken and may make life long enemies.

Scorpios are passionate lovers. They, may, however, release their intense and powerful sexual urges into many creative channels like competitive sports or other fields of their business and social activities. Intensity is the hallmark of Scorpios.

The downside of Scorpio’s traits is that they can be very jealous personalities. This weakness may at times affect their relationships not only with their close colleagues and friends, but may also sweep almost every people who are better placed in any field, whether business, arts, health, beauty and general accomplishments. A Scorpio can be possessive, obstinate, compulsive, arrogant, volatile, indolent, self-indulgent, secretive and resentful to the extreme.

This star is represented by Scorpion. It is a watery sign ruled by the planet Mars. They are powerfully magnetic, full of energy and full of intense emotions. Strong will power helps them exert their will over other people. They are capable of shocking others by their dramatic and unexpected ways. They are seldom discouraged when their plans go wrong. They conceal their emotions. They are idealists and humanitarians in their heart. They are ever eager to defend and help the weak and the oppressed. They are naturally gifted with the ability to control. They give little value for convictions and they deliberately defy them. They are hard workers and they never get tired of doing a difficult job. The are gifted with ambition and nothing stands in their way of realizing them. They plan calmly and over come obstacles with great coolness. In order to get things done they may even break all norms. They are greatly attracted to occult and mysticism. They are also very religious. In short they are people who are destined to make a mark in the world whatever they choose to do.

The Sun in Scorpio represents Secrecy and regeneration.

Intense, passionate, brooding, magnetic; stubborn, unyielding, driven by emotions; stands up for self, usually covertly, manipulates power; understands deeper layers of the psyche beyond the ego, unable to communicate this well leading to misunderstandings; intrigued by the "dark side" of life Water sign ruled by Mars. Scorpios' personality is extremely complex and contradictory. They are serious, authoritative, jealous, possessive and they like going into deep.

Thanks to their intuitive sense, they are able to find out other people's weaknesses. Sometimes Scorpios can be cold, introverted, polemic and lunatic, but beyond that surface there are many good qualities, strength and they are always ready to help other people. They are seldom afraid of something and are determined to reach their goals. Among their most suitable careers are: chemist, psychologist, businessman, researcher. They are very passionate people, but in a love relationship they are rather contradictory and complicated. When they fall in love they give themselves body and soul, even though their natural restlessness never abandons them.

The Scorpion is one intense little creature, with enough poison in its own tail to disable or kill a much larger opponent. But the problem with this kind of built-in biological weaponry is that it must be mastered in order to be used most effectively. They Scorpios can use their "stinger" for self-defense, using their powerful emotional awareness to render their opponent harmless. But there is a sexual component of poisonous tail also, and until Scorpio learns to control those strong urges, Scorpio may find their self in uncomfortable situations.

Scorpio is the only sign that has three animal totems. First, there is the well-known Scorpion with its active tail. Second, as the Scorpio learns to master its passion and hold its instincts at bay, it changes into the Eagle. The Eagle has more perspective, for it flies high above the surface of circumstances, swooping down with its power only to kill prey for food. In its third form, the Scorpion becomes the always-peaceful dove. The real meaning of Scorpio is thus shown. Scorpio is about metamorphosis. Scorpios transform the painful poisons of possessive passion into a higher consciousness based on universal love.

The Scorpio motto might be "What is hidden is more interesting than what is obvious." They are the detectives of the zodiac. Their magnetic personality draws others to they. But they can also be secretive their self, for they learn early on that when they express everything, others may be scared by the power of their feelings. They desperately want to have someone to merge with their feelings, but can become cold and withdrawn when hurt in love. They have the magic to light up the dark, but sometimes they would benefit by looking at the positive side of things rather than going into the darkness at all.

General Character

Scorpio (the scorpion) is intense and powerful. Although they appear controlled and calm, they are emotional and energetic. Scorpios often have strong and penetrating eyes. They seem fun to be with socially, but some seem self-involved and withdrawn. They can recognize their special qualities and it requires self-control to prevent they from using them for bad reasons. In relationships, they can be passionate and overwhelming. They are also very sensitive and take almost every comment to heart. They discard friends when they start to bore them.

The Element associated with Scorpio is Water. Those born under this Sign are emotional; it's just that they're not as likely to show it. The Scorpio's emotions are repressed, kept under cover that said, be aware that these folks are clever, perceptive and always in the mix. Their ability to see into things can sometimes be a curse for Scorpions, however, since they can take an insignificant matter and turn it into a huge slight. Beware the Scorpion who feels crossed!

These folks can turn vindictive in no time flat. Luckily, once Scorpions catch their breath, they will return to their usual determined and loyal ways. Finally, while Scorpions aren't above some subtle manipulation to get what they want, they'd much rather take a scientific, even mystical path. The Scorpio-born are powerful and passionate, qualities, which serve them well, as long as they don't let them deteriorate into self-indulgence or compulsion.

Because Scorpio is the eighth sign of the zodiac, the deeper and hidden aspects of emotion are their terrain and few people really understand the depths of feeling, which are at the heart of their inner nature. The eighth house regulates the aspects of life, sex, death and regeneration. The symbol of the phoenix rising from the ashes describes the transformative aspects of their nature, the potential for incredible inner awakening and spiritual power.

A Scorpio Ascendant indicates individuals who are likely to have strong physiques and tremendous physical stamina. They are often far more stubborn than they seem on the surface, and assiduously stick to their goals as long as they feel there is a chance they will be successful. It is difficult to convince them to change their minds once their decisions are made.

They are emotionally oriented, but their emotional vulnerability is apt to be hidden unless their natal sun or moon happens to be in Cancer or Pisces. They are friendly and while some are rather quiet, many of them also have far more gregarious personalities and don't mind being in the spotlight. Rarely do these individuals possess the sinister or mysterious personalities that popular literature tends to associate with the sign of Scorpio. They are keen observers and shrewd speculators.

Scorpio is ruled by Pluto and, secondarily, by this sign's ancient ruler, the planet Mars. Both planetary influences may be seen in the personalities of these individuals. They are ambitious, energetic, and seek activities that are economically rewarding, as well as mentally or physically challenging. The jealousy associated with Mars and Pluto is minimal unless other factors in their individual personalities support such a trait. Many of them possess the cleverness and mechanical ability associated with Mars, as well as the innate resourcefulness associated with Pluto.

They have remarkable recuperative powers that allow them to recover from physical, mental or economic adversities that would destroy many others. When properly focused, their energy is formidable and they quietly keep going long after everyone else runs out of steam. Scorpio is a passionate nature, has a bent for extremes of all kind, including love. It seems he is just made for it. He is longing for love by all his nature.

Scorpio can’t stand any defeat. He has a high opinion of himself and knows he is attractive and charming. Anxiety in the face of the unknown and consequently a desire to be able to control what is going on leads to a certain obsessive quality in planets placed in this sign. There is a secretiveness and compulsiveness, which is hidden under a facade of strong self-control. Instinctual knowledge, occult talents and psychological ability manifest themselves in Scorpio, because the character dwells on the inner emotional demons most people choose to ignore.

Being able to trust someone and being sure that nothing is hidden from their considerable perceptive talents are essential ingredients for a good relationship. And intense emotional relationships are very important to they - they do not like superficiality at all. Turning points in their life come in the form of psychological breakthroughs, which shake their emotional foundations. Often this will be connected with the transformation of a deep emotional bond, which wakens their latent anxiety connected with emotional security. By giving up the illusion of being able to control others emotionally, they are confronted with their own vulnerability. Their facade of inscrutability is transformed and a softer and more understanding side of their character is evoked. Their greatest talent is their ability to strengthen others by their emotional and mental support.

He is self-assured and independent, acts according to what his heart says. If any obstacles prevent him from getting married, he will love his darling even more than the real wife and husband.

A Scorpio man is not inclined to open his heart to people. Among strangers he may behave roughly, neglect his partner and be even violent, but tête-à-tête he will reveal his real feelings. Love horoscope Scorpio explains he is very suspicious, mistrustful and jealous.

As a Baby

When a Scorpio baby enters the world, all eyes will focus on them. And that's exactly how it will be for a long time to come, as this baby must be the center of attention! To that end, this is quite the manipulative little tot, sucking up energy from everyone around. The Scorpio baby is also a bit mysterious, making it hard to figure out what's wrong when the crying starts. So often, it's something, which is seething below the surface and will be very hard to draw out of this child. They must also consider power struggles when thinking of this child, as the Scorpio baby will expect that Mom, Dad, and everyone else will fit into their schedule and plans.

Make no mistake, this is a powerful child! The flip side of this is that this baby is quite clear on what they want and can get that message across. One important note: Scorpio babes loathe lounging in dirty diapers, so change them often! Many times, this can be the simple source of their discomfort, although the malady may not always be so clear. For that reason, the Scorpio baby should be watched closely. Someone will generally be watching this child, though, as the Scorpio tot enjoys a crowd, especially one where it can lead. To sum up, the Scorpio baby is clever, wants things on their own terms, and will know how to get it. Watch out!

Positive Qualities

The dual aspect of Mars and Pluto working together creates an intriguing profile for them. They have all the passion and power of Mars, but the secrecy of Pluto (it was there from the beginning, exerting its energy, but we only just found out about it, and even now it's hidden way, way out there, and is the only planet that does not orbit the sun on an elliptical path, but a rather skewed one).

As a result, they exert their power in subtle ways. They're the person pulling the strings above the stage, where no one can see they, yet they're in complete control. They know they have a natural dominance -- not leadership per se, but quiet control -- and they take pride and pleasure in seeing its effect on others. They notice that the opposite sex is naturally attracted to them: They notice that other people find themselves acquiring their habits, or their points of view. Yes, they are a natural manipulator, very much like the serpent in Eden.

This does not, however, mean that they're evil. A few Scorpios have taken advantage of this power for dubious purposes -- the infamous German World War I spy Mata Hari, for example -- but for most of they it's just their nature. They've learned early on that they can't control everything -- that's impossible -- so they limit their scope to the few areas in which they can excel.

One such area is investigation. Secrecy and control go hand in hand here, so any problem that needs solving, any mystery that is begging to be unraveled, is their baby. They discover gossip, for instance, before everyone else (although they're hardly a blabbermouth). This is just because they're extremely curious. They'll take apart a radio just to see how it works, they'll explore a cave to see where it goes, or they'll follow a trail to get to its source.

The Mars influence also indicates purposeful energy. Hard work is second nature to they, and if they're the controlling force, watch it world, they'll blow it open. Even if they fail, they can still start over -- that's Pluto, able to reach very deep into the system and retool it.

Negative Qualities

They are intense, and they know it. They have a deep well of passion and will, but if they don't get their way, they could explode like a volcano. A Scorpio rage is a rage that can blast everything in its path, including itself (when cornered, a scorpion will sting itself to death). This is why control is so important to they: it's for their own good, and everyone else's as well.

So they restrain their self. They hold back their true emotions deep, deep in the well. Oh sure, they make the appropriate social response when needed, but it's either fabricated or just a hint of the real they, a drop or two from the well. People are attracted to them for that deep passion -- it's often a challenge for them to get to know they so well they find the key that unlocks the floodgates.

Scorpios are also thought to be preoccupied with death. It is certainly a sign with a dark nature, but in real life no Scorpios have ever been found to be more depressed or suicidal than others. They enjoy life as much as everyone else, but they are somehow more aware of mortality. Most other signs spend their lives ignoring it, but they let it dictate their actions to a degree, and they respond to it with their self-restraint mechanism. Only they know the power of their temper.

They are instinctively suspicious, because once they place their self in the control room, they have to defend it. And, curiously, their defense mechanism is just as secretive as the rest of them. They'll use their powers of manipulation and investigation to create an aura of fear and fascination -- that always works.

By no means will they ever leave their self open and vulnerable. They have to hold something back, or else they'd be giving up control, and that simply is unthinkable. They will therefore share the deepest part of their self only with a select trustworthy few.

It's not appropriate, in this case, to suggest moderation here and there, as is customary with most other signs. They are not one to compromise, so there's little point. Perhaps the only caveat is to suggest care of their self and others -- i.e., don't misuse the immense passion and power with which they were blessed. They and those around them will lead happier lives if they channel it positively.

Physical Qualities and Activities

Scorpio rules the reproductive organs, so this area is particularly sensitive. Like the serpent in the Bible, it signifies the fall of man and the fertility of man, the birth / death continuum. They know they're vulnerable there -- it's the well of their passion -- so they don't share it with just anybody, and that's also why they're so restrictive of their deepest secrets.

They're really not an athlete, or all that inclined towards recreation. But they do love a dare. Anything that pushes the limit of danger gets their blood flowing -- and not just faux danger, like bungee jumping, but real danger -- riding a motorcycle at 100 mph on a windy mountain road, for instance, or scuba diving into shark-infested waters.

Physical appearance

Scorpios are always striking, whether or not they are stunningly beautiful. They have a magnetic, forceful quality and dress elegantly. There is a strange mysticism and magnetism in the Scorpio personality, which is enchanting to the beholder.

Beauty - Of course they've heard all the tales of lusty Scorpio, the Sign of Sex – the escapades, the seduction, the mysterious stranger in red and black. No other Sun Sign has quite the mystique of this stinging little Scorpion. Yes, those of they born under the intense light of this Fixed Water Sign are intense and passionate, amorous and sometimes secretive.

When it comes to beauty, they wrap their sensuality around they like a long, silken robe – it envelopes their every move. Their sensuality courses through them like an electric current. While it seems as if they can't help but exude sexual energy, there's a softer side to they. They can be emotional and a loyal friend. They don't go for the musky perfumes as much as they do sweeter essences like vanilla or spicy fragrances like cinnamon.

They delight in disguise and in dramatic makeovers; wigs and false eyelashes are some of the tools of their cosmetic trade. Hiding behind other personas stimulates they, and they shine when they can be a bit clever and cunning.

The power of their beauty lies within this cunning; all of their expressions of beauty possess a hidden, deeper meaning, a subtext of desire, an ulterior motive. They are at their most beautiful when they channel their sly charm to energize those around them, letting the world in on the biggest Scorpio secret of all: how good it feels to be them.

Personality

They are intuitive, probing and very focused on knowing who's who and what's what. Scorpions can lose their temper when someone gets in their way, so it's best to give them plenty of room. Remember, they're unafraid, and a loss today simply means an opportunity for victory tomorrow.

Scorpio is the most intense and powerful sign of the zodiac. Scorpions are determined and passionate, emotional and exciting, sometimes volatile, even if they seem reserved on the surface. A Scorpio can however be quite jealous at times, and secretive or even obstinate. Scorpions are imaginative, intuitive and rational, but can be demanding of those around them.

They are attracted to others with strong, magnetic personalities. They are oriented toward gathering resources of all kinds. For example, many of these individuals consciously or subconsciously tend to establish relationships with strong or powerful people in the belief such contacts may prove useful to them in some way. They can be quite secretive about personal affairs, a trait that often escapes the attention of most people they meet. They are often so accommodating and pleasant that, unless others make serious attempts to probe beneath their surface, their real personalities and activities stay hidden indefinitely.

They have remarkable recuperative powers that allow them to recover from physical, mental or economic adversities that would destroy many others. When properly focused, their energy is formidable and they quietly keep going long after everyone else runs out of steam. A Scorpio Ascendant indicates potential for afflictions to the head and face as well as illnesses affecting the reproductive organs. Scorpio is generally recognized as: determined, persistent, intense, emotional, intuitive, forceful yet subtle, imaginative, powerful, generous, loyal, passionate, exciting, and magnetic.

On the shadow side: jealous, resentful, obstinate, compulsive, obsessive, brooding, secretive, vengeful, possessive, unyielding, extremist, and can appear cold and impassive.

Isn't it interesting how people always jump a step back when they tell them they're a Scorpio - as if that stinging scorpionic tail of theirs is about to lash out at the first person that walks by. In fact it's not like that at all - and Scorpios are usually not usually cruel, but they are intense.

They are intense emotionally and exert their passion in a very focused and determined fashion. They get what they want even if they have to wait a long while. And passion doesn't only apply to physical and sexual matters. They are passionate about anything that captivates their attention.

Their magnetism is highly noticeable and they probably know it. It's also quite likely that by now they've discovered their hidden talent of attraction and influence - usually by the mere magnetic look of the enticing fire in their eyes, the mystery of the real Scorpion in them.

If hurt, they're prone to biding their time for vengeance sake, for a more appropriate time to balance the score sheet. On the other hand, they exhibit a fiercely loyal streak and are protective of family, friends and territory too. They want the best for those in their life and may exert their self to extremes to prove their worth and dedication to the ideals that they set for their self in life.

Romance

Scorpio is a passionate nature, has a bent for extremes of all kind, including love. It seems he is just made for it. He is longing for love by all his nature.

The opposite sex holds a fair deal of attraction to them but they should be careful in their dealings with them as they usually end up in unpleasant situations, because of the zeal and determination with which they tackle relationships with the opposite sex. Be friendly by all means, but treat the person like one treats a rose. Enjoy its glory, but do not crush its petals. They will find more satisfaction. They cannot be faithful for too long and this will not only destroy their reputation, but also remain a painful memory all their life.

There's a hard-to-pin-down, magnetic quality, which surrounds the Scorpion, an aura which says "try me, if they dare!" That's just what Scorpions want, someone fearless, who is willing to help create the ultimate romance, one which will take them to greater heights than ever before. When this works, the Scorpion's passions are unleashed with hurricane force. If, however, the romance zigs, zags and bouts of jealousy may be the unwelcome result. Ruling planets Mars and Pluto might prompt Scorpio to think that romance is a clash of wills, but a clever lover is the one who can bring this warrior to see that a pincer movement to the heart is the sweetest of all.

Love and Relation

Because they have an innate understanding of secrecy and power, they have to be careful of jealousy in their relationships. They can be quite trustworthy when they're happy, but when they suspect some wrongdoing, watch out. Pity the poor soul who makes them an enemy, and they themselves will agonize over such a state. Cultivate the traits that will make them more open and trusting, and just as importantly, choose the partner most suited to them.

The strong Scorpion often takes the lead when it comes to matters of the heart. This can make for an interesting relationship dynamic and a very sexy chess game. It is sex and the power that comes with it that carry the most weight for this libidinous soul. Scorpions are possessed of a steely determination and a strong sense of what is best - for them. Thankfully, this often takes into account their partner by extension; Scorpios are quick to be giving and to make their lover's life as easy as possible. As long as the Scorpion wins, there will be harmony in the mating game.

Male

When it comes to lovemaking they are capable of attaining the highest level of passion. They are persuasive and will not admit defeat once they have their mind fixed on a particular female. They prefer to control their mates' emotions. Like everything else, they always give one hundred percent and of course they expect the same in return. To they sex is a competitive game, and revenge and jealousy are two of their characteristics that will surface if they aren't winning.

Female

They have no trouble attracting men. They dress for their mate and will use their seductive, hypnotic eyes to dazzle and captivate their chosen partner. They are the type of woman that has a tremendous animalistic energy that can lure and tantalize but they also have a temper that can be explosive. They are extremely demanding when it comes to the art of making love and they ask patience if their mate doesn't satisfy them. They will be loyal and true blue as long as they don't detect weakness in their lover.

An ideal love partner
Scorpio - Aries. Fire with water creates a highly charged association. Mars rules over both signs, so there will be mutual appreciation of strength or capabilities or fierce competition. Aries does not suspect the secretive ways of Scorpio. Excellent of teamwork, if goals agree, but these signs will demand of each other. A very unstable combination. Aries loves innovations in sex, and Scorpio will take part in it with great pleasure. But Aries loves freedom, Scorpio is jealous. Both are egoistic, dynamic and ambitious. A strong mutual attraction may arise, but their individualism will set them apart. Compatibility horoscope Scorpio
