Phase
April 21 - May 20
Sign: Taurus
Name: Bull
Ruler: Venus

Symbol - Bull
The symbol for Taurus has been described
as the head of a bull, again with horns. It has also been described
as the Moon resting on the Sun. Compared with the symbol for Aries;
it has a nice, solid, round shape.
The Bull. The Bull was the
symbol for power and strength.
The Bull-god Apis was worshipped
in Egypt for thousands of years. To qualify for the honor of
being an Apis-bull, a real bull must have certain markings and then
be tended by the high priests. For as long as it lived, an Apis-bull
supposedly embodied the soul of the Bull-god. When the Apis-bull
died, another, with similar markings, had to be found to house the
soul of the Bull-god.
Comparison with its symbol
For centuries, the bull has been
a symbol of strength, tenacity, virility, and power. Left alone, a
bull will happily graze; but if it is bothered, it will charge! Similarly,
the Taurus personality is thought to be calm and peaceful, but when
their anger is aroused, their temper can be wicked. Taureans are often
quite disturbed by sudden changes--they prefer their lives stable
and secure.
Taureans are thought to be persevering,
strong individuals, who can also be quite "bull-headed".
They can be dogged and determined when they have a goal in mind. Taureans
are also quite sensual and, often, self-indulgent "beasts".
The glyph for Taurus, quite simply,
represents the bull's head and horns.
Color
The fierce bull is calmed by the
color of the sky - all shades of BLUE, from powder to indigo; also
rose and pink in a lesser way, but never, of course red. As well,
the GREENS and BROWNS of nature calm and soothe the Taurean, who has
a love of nature and gardening. Taurus people are happiest in comfortable,
familiar surroundings and they tend to dream about, or do own their
own home.
Taurus
Taurus is symbolized by the Bull.
They may be stubborn, but their grounded, steady demeanor makes them
someone others can count on. They're also a sensualist who loves good
food, physical affection, romance and material goods – and only
the best of everything.
Taurus likes to keep a firm hand
on possessions and nothing makes this Sign happier than secure material
prosperity. Taurus craves the good things in life. Dominated by the
romantic Planet of Venus, Taurus is deeply loving with strong values,
but can be slow to make decisions. Earthbound with worldly goals and
in tune with nature, Taurus is the most reliable and faithful Sign
of the Zodiac.
Taurus is an Earth sign and as such
is connected with fruitfulness and stability. A planet placed in this
sign will be a stabilizing influence and manifest its energy in a
steadfast and determined manner. Taurus is also a Fixed sign, and
this means that once a course is embarked on, it is rarely deviated
from. Maintenance and care of existing conditions over long periods
of time, and a reluctance to initiate change, are qualities of this
sign.
The sign Taurus is ruled by Venus.
Physically it is related to the throat. It is said to have a feminine
nature, and is therefore more passive and receptive in its energy
expression.
Taurus is also connected with the
resources of Nature, and the whole issue of value and worth. Therefore
it is associated with finance, worldly goods and security. People
with a strong emphasis in this sign tend to be materialistic, and
often get stuck in a rut. By periodically cutting their strong attachments
they can gain greater perspective. There is a talent for relaxation
and enjoyment of sensory pleasures.
In essence, Taurus governs practicality
and security.
In terms of the human life cycle,
Spring represents the time of birth to the age of twenty-one - the
active period of development encompassing birth, infancy, childhood
and adolescence. Governed by the faculty of intuition, this period
represents an objective manifestation and has an unconscious orientation.
In short, although objective growth is taking place in an external
fashion, the internal state remains highly subjective. This is largely
due to the fact that Venus (which rules the Zodiac Sign of Taurus)
is classified as an "inner" or "personal" planet,
meaning it is relatively small in size as well as being close to the
Earth and the Sun. This time of human life also displays an exceedingly
subjective or personal orientation. The developing child perceives
the world largely as an extension of himself or herself. Apprehension
of life is colored by intuition and powerful unconscious drives. The
ability of a child to absorb and assimilate impressions of the outside
world is truly quite astonishing and, on occasion, the young person
will be at the mercy of such powerful forces, not always acting in
the most rational or conscious manner.
In general, individuals who fall
under the jurisdiction of spring possess a great enthusiasm for life.
The energy here is prodigious in terms of initiating projects and
the ability to survive and/or adapt is noteworthy. Frequently more
extroverted than introverted, Spring subjects are prone to have a
heavy impact on their environment. However, the capacity to dutifully
or doggedly adhere to one activity is often lacking. Natives of Spring
are fond of sharing their thoughts. They also like to create and produce
and, more than those who fall under the jurisdiction of the other
Seasons, crave relatively constant appreciation and approval for what
is accomplished. A desire forfreedom also characterizes many individuals
born in the Spring and they may not react favorably to having restrictions
imposed upon them. Subjects ruled by this Season need to grow, expand
and make their mark upon the world. Spring natives often emit a childlike
air their entire lives - innocence, spontaneity and impulse are all
inherent traits associated with these individuals. Normally positive
in outlook, the Spring individual may well be adverse to overly-serious
attitudes and possess little patience for those whose orientations
are negative.
The ancient Babylonians and Sumerians
also recorded the constellation Taurus in the night sky.
The Arabs called Taurus Al Thaur,
Il Toro by the Italians, Le Taureau by the French, Taura by the Persians,
and Shor by the Jews, all meaning the Bull.
Key Planet - Venus
Venus (Greek: Aphrodite; Babylonian:
Ishtar) is the goddess of love and beauty This planet governs love,
affection, art, creativity and physical beauty. . With a few exceptions,
the surface features on Venus are named for female figures. Venus
has been known since prehistoric times. It is the brightest object
in the sky except for the Sun and the Moon and has been referred to
as the 'Jewel of the Sky', the planet was so named because it is the
brightest of the planets known to the ancients. It was popularly thought
to be two separate bodies: Eosphorus as the morning star and Hesperus
as the evening star, but the Greek astronomers knew better.
Venus is the planet of love and desire,
romance and beauty. Venus is present in a beautiful painting or other
work or art,. in a beauty of a rose - attraction one have to
someone’s love. As the key planet of Taurus, Venus is
sensual and simple. It fulfill the senses with beauty and life is
good.
This glyph is traditionally the female
symbol of Venus, constructed from the circle of life above the cross
of spirit.
Taurus Greatest Strength - sensible
outlook on life.
Taurus Possible Weakness -
Accepting less than what one can achieve.
Element - Earth
Earth signs are naturally practical.
In this lifetime we are bound to Earth. There is no escaping the reality
around us. The Earth is about as real as it gets; it can be felt,
weighed and it has substance. Accordingly, the earth signs base their
life on reality not imaginary. Sensation is valued over thoughts or
feelings. Earth signs live with their feet on the ground. Others seek
their advice because of their basic sensibility. For earth signs,
seeing is believing.
The earth of Taurus is simple and
sensible. It's about getting back to basics. This is about working
the earth in a garden or about having the tools that we need in order
to build.
Second House - Possessions
The Second House symbolizes those
things that are of value to us. Personal possessions are within this
domain, as is our money. Anything having personal value is associated
with the Second House. It also represents those things we value that
are not things. When one think about what is most important to him
then that is their own values, they are indeed thinking about their
Second House. The Second House is concerned with ethics, morals, integrity
and priorities - what an individual "stands for" and what
influences that individual's choices in life. In addition to personal
values, this house is traditionally associated with inner and outer
talents and resources.
Origin
Spring was the time when festivals
honoring the Apis-bulls were held. It was also a time when the
River Nile gently overflowed its banks and brought life-giving water
to the land, a time for planting to begin. At this time in history,
roughly around 4000 B.C., the Sun's position along the Zodiac on the
first day of spring, or Vernal Equinox, was in that constellation
we now recognize as Taurus, the Bull. So for many centuries
Taurus was to be the first and most important constellation of the
Zodiac. Some have suggested that Taurus may have been the first
Zodiac constellation invented.
Unlike Aries, which has had several
symbols over time, Taurus has always been represented by the bull.
To the casual observer, it might seem odd that a bull, which is often
thought of as an aggressive, primal creature, should symbolize a sign
of peace and love. The reason? Timing. In ancient cultures, most springtime
celebrations occurred around May Day, when the last traces of winter
were finally over, the land could be plowed again, and fertility was
in the air. So the bull constellation's appearance in the night sky
coincided with these festivities.
Also, the progression of the zodiacal
signs occurs from the head down, so while Aries is represented by
the head, Taurus has a strong connection to the neck, larynx, and
ears.
Taurus' planetary ruler is Venus,
the goddess of peace, love, and harmony. If they are a Taurus, Venus'
likely influence includes romantic, caring nature, their preference
for the color blue (although there is some debate about this), and
favorite day -- Friday
Characteristics of sign and
planets
Signs: In Taurus - neck of the kalapurusha,
pastoral and cultivated fields, projecting rocks, lively tracts, wilderness,
mountains, lands frequented by cattle and jungles abounding in elephants.
Sun in Taurus
Apr 21 - May 20: Even though the
Sun is peregrine here, (without essential dignity) it gains great
strength because it is culminating with respect to its own sign. This
10th house quality places an emphasis on the acquisition of respect
and recognition. According to medieval sources, the emphasis on dryness
is augmented by both, while the coolness of the earth cancels the
heat of the Sun, bringing a temperate and steady, placid nature to
their sense of purpose. The excess dryness creates separateness and
distinctness. These distinctions in situations in the natives environment,
create a clear cut sense of security and self assuredness. For most
of these natives, being stuck in ill defined, i.e. controversial situations
is their worst nightmare, so they have a tendency to be conservative
and reliable.
There is something very solid about
Taurus natives, no matter what the rest of their charts say about
them. Though they are dependable most of the time, this generally
shows itself more in habit than in outright helpfulness.
Taurus is a fixed sign, and they
have a fair measure of tradition and steadiness in their make-up that
keeps them rooted.
Taurus natives are sensual folk--and
this includes sex, but extends to pleasures in all areas: they delight
in the sensual pleasures of food, a comfortable blanket, a richly
colored aquarium to look at, the smell of flowers or spring rain,
pleasing melodies coming from their stereos, and so forth. Some might
even say they live through their senses more than most.
A Solar Taurus who has kicked his
or her feet up is rooted there -- it would be hard-pressed to get
them to move. On a mental level, they will likely have the same problem.
Taureans stick with things and ideas, and therein lies one of the
reasons why they are known for their stubbornness.
In a diurnal chart, the excess heat
generates above average activity and nudges them out of their placidity
to some degree. There can be an urge for public life in politics or
in the corporate world. There is the danger that dryness may become
overemphasized to the point of insensitivity and stubbornness. In
the worst case, these natives may view situations with very strict
black and white boundaries and suffer detachment from the consequences
of their actions, creating difficulty in learning from mistakes.
In a nocturnal chart, the coolness
slows down activity, creating a greater sense of contentment. Consequently,
there tends to be less interest in worldly matters and politics, and
they are more likely to be introverted. The dryness is moderated and
creates a greater sense of their relationship to their surroundings,
hence they are more sensitive and emotional. They are also less secure
because they are more likely to get into situations that are not well
defined. These natives seem to be more artistically creative and self
indulgent than their diurnal counterparts.
Moon in Taurus
The Taurus Moon is a positive and
practical Moon. This Moon possesses a sharp artistic sense but is
deliberate in reaching decisions. The Taurus Moon tends not to be
aggressive but instead, is rather good-natured, accenting the need
for security and the necessity of saving for "a rainy day."
However, this Moon may also be prideful, stubborn and jealous.
This is the Moons exaltation. For
this reason, the cosmic soul sees more visibly the natives domestic
affairs and personal life.. In most cases these natives do well financially.
If the lot of fortune is also here, or is the place of the acquisition,
then great wealth can be had, since this place already has a tendency
to attract the finer things of life. There is usually a streak of
conservatism in these individuals. Since the Moon represents the physical
body, this also often indicates the slowing and concentrating of metabolism.
As a result there may be problems with weight gain.
In general, those with the Moon in
Taurus are, in a word, conservative. They tend to fear anything outside
the norm. However, they are deeply moved by things of beauty. Totally
lacking in impulsive behavior, such individuals strive for success
in a conservative manner and by investing much hard work into the
process. Nevertheless, those with the Moon in Taurus tend to attract
good company and usually end up with more than their fair share of
wealth. In fact, no matter what type of work these individuals undertake,
they will usually receive a financial reward in the end. Moon in Taurus
people harbor a love for things that are old and well-established.
They are generally sociable souls and actually quite sensual in nature,
although there is a tendency toward the materialistic in terms of
relationships. These individuals often possess a good speaking and/or
singing voice and have a natural attraction to the theater. Moon in
Taurus persons enjoy making new friends and like to join clubs or
other social circles. Emotionally stable and strong, these individuals
form loyal bonds of friendship, but any change is usually perceived
as a threat and may lead to the revealing of a somewhat jealous streak.
These people will go to any lengths to preserve what they already
possess and have even been known to test relationships to find out
whether they will stand up to the challenge. Stability and continuity
are vital to the Moon in Taurus person, together with a desire for
traditional values and the occasional outmoded way of being. It is
necessary for the Moon in Taurus individual to feel very secure and
he or she will put up with more than most in preference to giving
up at the first encountered hurdle.
Familiarity is important to Lunar
Taureans. These people are earthy and strong-willed. They feel with
their senses and they are pretty much rooted in their ways. They revel
in material comforts--in fact, building a solid and comfortable home
and foundation helps to keep them feeling safe and content.
There's a steadiness to this position
of the Moon that is comforting to those close to them. But the conservative
streak in these natives can be maddening to more progressive personalities.
They tend to go out of their way to avoid "messy" or unpredictable
situations, crises, and emotional displays. Instead, they focus on
creating a reliable and secure life around them. In relationships,
Lunar Taureans may not easily recognize their partner's need for change,
growth, or emotional stimulation.
Moon in Taurus natives are generally
very romantic. Their affections are strong, deep, and unwavering.
They are sentimental and warm. Since Taurus is a practical earth sign,
the placement of the Moon in this sign suggests an ability to protect
themselves and their own interests. They will rarely make a move without
first determining that it is safe and that there's something in it
for them.
Generally, Taurus Moon people have
reliable instincts. They are very much tied to the physical world,
and they often have a particularly well-developed sense of smell.
There is a serenity to them that
is calming. In fact, it takes a lot to really get to them. However,
they do get off-center every once in a while. They are not the most
adaptable people when their own routine is interrupted.
Though some Lunar Taureans might
be considered anal, most simply have a stubborn streak that keeps
them rather resistant to change. Rarely are they spontaneous sorts.
Uncomfortable with surprises, these natives value stability. Their
needs are strong but quite simple at the same time -- they love the
"good things" in life. The world of the five senses is all-important
to these natives. Their love of stability and steadiness can make
them slaves to routine. However, they are loyal and capable people.
In a diurnal chart, the emotions
are more contained with clear boundaries set, and the personal life
is less visible in public. The diurnal heat counteracts some of the
built in complacency and allows for individuals to more easily accept
change. The fire of the day also burns off impurities that create
chaotic situations that the Moons nature here might otherwise create.
As a result they do not feel as easily threatened by insecurities.
These individuals have an easier time keeping active and their weight
under control than their nocturnal counterparts. President Clinton
has this situation and also has this place as the acquisition. This
may be the reason why this country has prospered so over the past
7 years, as it is often said the fortunes of a nation can be read
from the chart of the leader.
In a nocturnal chart, the Moon has
free reign with the expression and sensation of emotions because the
cool and moist of night allow for things of like and unlike nature
to co-exist. This person is usually very intuitive and some may have
psychic gifts. While these natives tend to enjoy greater wealth than
their diurnal counterparts, they also tend to have more problems with
slow metabolism. There can be problems with feeling insecure since
the nature of the "Other" is overpowering, creating contrariety
and variety. This is what creates a lack of clear boundaries between
self and other in social situations. The earthy/dry nature of this
place keeps this situation from going too far. Martin Luther (founder
of Lutheranism during the church reformation) had the Moon in Taurus
9th at night.
Stars
The brightest and best known of Taurus'
stars is the orange giant Aldebaran, an irregular variable star that
forms the 'eye' of the bull, and is relatively close to the Solar
System at a distance of 65 light ears. Also prominent in this constellation
is first magnitude Nath, a blue star that forms the tip of Taurus'
northern horn.
A group of stars called the Hyades make up Taurus' head, and another
group of stars called the Pleiades make up part of the bull, as well.
The Pleiades are a bright galactic cluster and the brightest seven
make up their own constellation.
On a reasonably dark night, it should
be relatively easy to spot at least six of the stars, which make up
the Pleiades with the naked eye. If conditions are favorable, it may
be possible to see as many as nine. Containing a total of more than
500 stars, the Pleiades is approximately 410 light years away and
covers an area which is four times the size of the full Moon. Alcyone
is the brightest star in the Pleiades cluster, being approximately
1000 times brighter than the Sun - and ten times larger. Among many
ancient civilizations, the Pleiades were associated with agriculture
because the stars appeared on the horizon around harvest time and
Greek superstition cautioned sailors to set sail only during the months
when the Pleiades were visible.
Crab Nebula
Taurus also contains M1 (NGC 1952),
the Crab Nebula. The Crab Nebula is about 5,000 light years
away from Earth. It is the remnant of a supernova that occurred
in A.D. 1054. The supernova was so bright that it was visible
during the day time. The name of the nebula comes from its supposed
resemblance to a crab. It is one of the most studied objects in the
sky. In 1968 a pulsar was identified near the center of the Crab Nebula.
It emits pulses of radio energy with an extremely high degree of regularity.
The period is about 33 milliseconds, so short and so regular that
it must be due to the rotation of a very dense neutron star.
Mercury in Taurus
Since this sign is of an earthy nature
according to medieval sources, Mercury here indicates natives whose
thinking and decision-making are based on practical common sense.
They have shrewd business intellects and have a talent for management.
Intellectually, they are slow to come to decisions, but once made,
their minds will be difficult to change. They can also be stubborn
and opinionated. The cool/dry nature allows for great powers of concentration,
since cold, according to Aristotle, is what concentrates things into
tighter spaces. Mercury in Taurus natives are plodders. They may take
their time to arrive at a decision, but they get there -- they are
actually quite decisive, even stubborn with their opinions.
In a diurnal chart, the ability to
make intellectual distinctions is increased since the heat burns off
impure/muddy ideas. The opinionated nature comes out more completely
and there is greater intellectual conservatism, though they are not
necessarily conformists. The dryness of the daytime prevents easy
conformity, which is something water/wetness does much better. These
natives tend to be more practical than their nocturnal counterparts.
In a nocturnal chart, intellectual
reasoning is relational by nature. The mind asks how situations and
things are alike because the cool and moist of the night brings together
things of like and unlike nature and concentrates them in a way that
makes it more difficult to make distinctions. Therefore there is a
higher degree of tolerance and understanding, and the native is less
opinionated. There can be a higher degree of confusion as well and
sometimes long held ideas end up being changed through disillusionment.
There is a placid quality to Mercury
in Taurus natives -- when they speak, they are generally not bubbling
or scattered. As a result, others really listen to them, and take
them seriously. The practicality of the sign often shows up in a rather
sarcastic manner, although Mercury in Taurus
people have an overall pleasing manner
of communicating. In fact, they can be quite funny with their "say
it like it is" style.
Many people with this placement of
Mercury have especially pleasant voices. The down-to-earth quality
of Taurus often shows up in the speech, so it's unlikely that their
expression will be flowery or affected. Instead, it's infused with
a realistic tone that can be rather authoritative.
When it comes to learning, Mercury
in Taurus prefers demonstrations, concrete answers, and basic concepts.
These natives learn best when they see real-world uses for the theories
they're trying to absorb. It's interesting to note that Taurus is
a sign that naturally assesses things in terms of what they can do
for them. With Mercury placed in the sign, information is processed,
and either accepted or discarded, with this kind of "screening"
process.
Well-developed sense of color, smell,
and touch are characteristic of this position of Mercury. These people
have well-defined tastes, and these revolve very much around the world
of the five senses.
Venus in Taurus
Venus is in its own house here and
is therefore more able to administer to issues involving love, money,
pleasure, artistic expression, and material luxuries because the cosmic
soul perceives clearly her presence in this sign and her asking for
these things for the native on his/her behalf. This sign also makes
all things, including those above, more permanent and lasting. For
this reason, a lasting love and financial security is especially important
for the natives. They are loyal and persevering, but can also be possessive
and jealous. They find commitment to a single relationship much easier
than most people.
Venus has a sensual quality which
represents the higher aspirations of spirit and shows their softer
aspects of femininity; giving them the power of attraction. It is
the sign that represents, more artistic side and denotes the spiritual
vibrations over mundane matter many ascribe love to the planet but
it is the appreciation of love and beauty that is more accurate. Love
for Venus in Taurus centers on the physical world and creature comforts.
These people project themselves as solid and comfortable. In fact,
something about their manner promises they will be satisfying lovers
and partners. They need a certain measure of predictability and dependability
in their relationships, even if their Sun is in the more spontaneous
signs of Aries or Gemini.
In a diurnal chart, Venus is more
active because of the heat and dryness of the daytime counteract her
naturally cool and moist nature. The native is therefore more inclined
to actively seek pleasure and situations that will enhance security,
financial and otherwise. In the past it was seen as more socially
acceptable to wait for things of this nature to come to them, else
they were considered a hedonist or were too "foreword",
etc - This is especially true if Venus was rising before the Sun on
the morning of the natives birth. This Venus has a special name: &
quote Phosphorous" which in Greek "phos" means "light"
which is where we get the term "photons" from. The bible
calls the same "Lucifer" which means especially translucent
and brilliant. The danger hinted at here is that too much vanity leads
to pride and then a downfall, which in this case will most likely
take the form of social ostracization. This is more likely yet if
Mars happens to be in Taurus, Leo, Scorpio or Aquarius (solid signs).
In a nocturnal chart, the cool and
moist nature of Venus is amplified by the cool and moist of night,
especially if Venus was visible in the evening of birth after sunset.
This has the effect of multiplying the positive and negative effects
of Venus in this sign. There will usually be more security and happiness
unless Saturn happens to be in one-fixed/solid signs. Along with it
there is increased dependency and lack of willingness to go after
what one wants, though normally this position is very fortunate for
marriage, finance and artistic expression, especially if Taurus should
be one of the signs possessing a pivotal house with respect to the
ascendant.
Venus in Taurus men and women can
be possessive in love, and they are threatened by fast-paced, high-energy
situations in the context of relationships and love. These are sensual
partners who require lots of "hands-on" expressions of love.
Their lovers may complain that Venus in Taurus can get a little too
comfortable and settled. It's true that they resist change in their
relationships, but even when they seem stuck in a groove, they can
always reassure theirself by remembering that they are constant partners.
Pleasing Venus in Taurus involves
emphasizing their loyalty, and their worth. they may need to give
in to them in love matters, because they won't readily give in to
they! Get physical with them; do comfortable things. Avoid pushing
them in love -- give them plenty of time. They will probably need
to cultivate patience if they are in a relationship with Venus in
Taurus. Remember to be simple and natural -- Taurus will appreciate
it. Promise them a comfortable, cozy time.
Some Famous People with Venus in
Taurus: Joe Cocker (Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Venus in Taurus), Johnny
Depp (Mercury and Venus in Taurus), Steffi Graf, George Lucas (Sun,
Mercury, and Venus in Taurus), Prince William, Princess Diana.
Mars in Taurus
Mars in Taurus denotes plenty of
practical and emotional energy, while the physical side is often rather
flat, and the interest in the intellectual is also a strain. The planet
of energy is not very active in Taurus, as the physical drive is reduced
to a low gear. The energies of Mars are indeed channeled into a practical
mode that may center on acquiring money, creature comforts and material
possessions. Much of energy is apt to be aimed at securing wealth
and a very comfortable lifestyle.
Mars has difficulty functioning here
on the natives behalf unless it is received. Although hellenistic
sources did not consider detriment, Mars is said to be in detriment
here according to medieval sources. In any case, because Mars is not
liked by Venus, it has a difficult time when in this sign. Mars nature
is forceful and direct, but Venus is tactful and refined. As a result,
the native may be slowed down by obstacles and limitations, causing
them to be slow to act. There is likely to be considerable frustration
because Venus is slow to respond to Mars requests. These two planets
have much to do with sexual relations, but with Mars placed in this
setting there can be jeolousy, stubbornness, power and mind games.
In a diurnal chart, Mars becomes
even more difficult to control as the appetites are only amplified.
The native is especially willful against considerable opposition.
For women, there is often difficulty in relationships with men, because
to women it appears that men are unwilling to change and will not
consider other possibilities. Men with this position often feel like
nothing they do will matter, that they are continually banging their
head against a wall. Venus or Jupiter witnessing Mars here will help
make things more pleasant.
In a nocturnal chart, the cold and
moist of night alleviate some of the frustration of the natives actions.
Mars becomes more placid and controlled and the actions are more considered
and thoughtful. As a result, relations with the opposite sex are better
for these natives than their diurnal
counterparts. There may also be talent in art or music, though there
will be greater difficulty in all of these things if Saturn happens
to be cop resent or witnessing from one of the solid/fixed signs
Mars in Taurus people value strength
and stability. They are driven by security and an especial fondness
for personal possessions the powerful energy of Mars can be grounded
and focused when it is in this placement. They have an assured and
determined air that surrounds them, a confidence that project them
onto the world.
Generally calm and easygoing people,
Mars in Taurus natives can have powerful tempers when they're overly
provoked. They generally don't fly off the handle as quickly as others,
however (unless Aries is prominent in their chart).
Most have well-defined long-term
goals and the determination to achieve them. They usually are not
the type of people to take on too many projects at once. If they don't
think they can do it, they won't! It is almost impossible to get these
people moving once they've made up their minds on a matter.. Immovable
is the only way to describe Mars in Taurus people who have made up
their minds. Adaptability is not their strong point. Most are not
afraid to work for what they want, and there is an overall patience
to this position of Mars. If it takes a few years to achieve their
goals, so be it.
The negative side of Mars in Taurus
is often the lack of flexibility. Taurus is a fixed sign and energies
expressed here sometimes come out looking like stubbornness. Even
emotions can be held on to too tightly and then released with a major
blow up.
If they can get past these "quirks",
however, then they'll find that Mars in Taurus natives are often quite
reliable and strong personalities. It may just be worth the wait!
Jupiter in Taurus
Most modern astrologers say this
indicates an ability to manage resources well and make investments
grow to great potential. As a result, these people may end up in corporate
investment firms or other types of financial institutions. It is also
common to find involvement in real estate and agriculture, if Jupiter
is angular and strong in this sign. These natives make especially
good gardeners. The reason for this is that according to Aristotelian
principles, Jupiter is warm and moist in effect. When placed in a
fertile sign of spring, it brings considerable growth.
In a diurnal chart, the warmth is
increased. Jupiter then indicates faster growth potential of investments
and wealth. Since according to Aristotle, heat rarifies, those of
lower class or financial status are separated from the native. The
potential result is snobbery and jealousy from subordinates. If Jupiter
is also squared, opposed or joined by one of the malefics, especially
Mars (by sign), then, there may be over indulgence, financial wrecklessness,
waste and indifference to the material needs of others. This may cause
controversy, and plots, and corruption if there later is a need to
cover up wrecklessness in the natives behavior. Beware especially
if the lot of accusation should fall in this place or in the solid
quadruplicity. Venus making an aspect to Jupiter in this condition
helps alleviate the potential for plots, controversy or accusation,
but it can also indicate an increase in self indulgence.
In a nocturnal chart, cold is increased.
As a result, Jupiter is slower to bring about an increase in investments
and financial holdings. Coldness, according to Aristotle, is that
which concentrates things of like and unlike nature together in a
tighter space. For this reason, the native is likely to be in closer
contact with commoners, less aristocratic and more sympathetic to
the needs of others. But because of the slowness of attaining wealth,
there will likely be a streak of conservatism. If Saturn happens to
be in one of the solid/fixed signs as well, then there is some inhibition
to overcome in the attaining of wealth. If the lot of debt should
be in this quadruplicity in this circumstance, it indicates contracts
or mortgages, which restrict owning what one has.
Saturn in Taurus
Modern astrologers frequently state
that these people have difficulty with finances and
if they are to acquire material success then they need discipline
and hard work. It does appear to indicate testing of the natives sense
of values. This is because Saturn represents the principle of agnoia
(not knowing). As a result they become conservative and practical
from the sense that they do not know what lies ahead for them financially.
Their approach to business is slow and cautious, patient and steadfast.
Due to a lack of security, they save money and tend to be materialistic.
These natives usually prefer investing in bonds, or long term in stocks.
In a diurnal chart, the heat nullifies
Saturn's inherent coldness. The sense of agnoia begins to dissipate
and there is greater certainty with regard to business decisions,
and especially with aspects from Venus or Jupiter, there can be great
success. Again as with Jupiter above, the heat will tend to rarify
and cause separation from others of different social classes, creating
similarly, jeolousies, and plots to bring the native down to a less
aristocratic level. However, unless there is a hard aspect from Mars
present, this will usually not become an issue. This is because Saturn
is inherently more conservative, less boastful, and more careful than
Jupiter. If Mars is in hard aspect, then the danger comes from neglect
or forced rash actions in order to protect from losses.
In a nocturnal chart, the wet and
cold natures are amplified as well as the principle of contrariety.
Darkness and uncertainty with respect to business decisions cause
constant second guessing and a lack of security. As usual, the coldness
concentrates that which is like and unlike together. The native then
finds it difficult to separate his/her fortunes from the fortunes
of others, so the native frequently tries to force the situation.
The result is miserliness and excessive conservatism, along with a
lack of willingness to take chances. At night, without a clear sense
of how to invest, it is less likely to work out positively. Aspects
from Jupiter and especially Venus will help the native relax financially
and be less like "Scrooge".
Uranus in Taurus
Uranus is very much at odds with
the symbolism presented by Taurus. Most modern astrologers believe
Uranus to be hot and dry in nature. Uranus is indicative of change,
extremes, revolution, upsets, revelations and insight. Taurus is about
a continuance of issues in a steady, slow, consistent and predictable
manner. In effect, Uranus contradicts the Taurean notion of security.
For this generation, security is not something that can be taken for
granted. Uranus was in this place back in the 1850's during the gold
rush and again in the 1930's during the great depression, hence showing
the extremes that Uranus gives signs for when in this sign of capital
finance and sense of values.
In a diurnal chart, the heat and
dryness of Uranus is strengthened, making for greater extremes in
what one values during the course of life. There is also greater uncertainty
for this half of the generation. There may be artistic insight and
great creative talent. If any inner planets are closely configured
with Uranus, then this is especially true for them personally.
In a nocturnal chart, the cool and
moist of night counteract and moderate the extreme nature of this
planet. As a result, this half of the generation suffers sudden change
less frequently and not as completely. Usually there is greater stability,
but not as much progress in personal goals, unless inner planets are
closely configured with Uranus.
Neptune in Taurus
While Neptune agrees with the medieval
view of the elemental nature of Taurus, it has the potential to be
just as upsetting as Uranus. With Uranus there is a sharp contrast
to let them know abruptly that there is a problem with their sense
of values. In comparison, Neptune’s inherently wet nature blurs
distinctions allowing their senses to become confused. For this reason,
those of this generation who have inner planets in close configuration
to Neptune in Taurus may suffer from confused values and deception
in finance.
In a diurnal chart, Neptune's wet
nature is indirectly counteracted by the heat of the day. This should
minimize any potential problems in seeing financial issues clearly,
unless the chart is inherently wet and lacks earth or air in its overall
makeup. Unless inner planets are closely configured with Neptune,
this is likely to be more of a background issue of this generation
rather than a personal issue.
In a nocturnal chart, Neptune's inherently
wet nature is indirectly amplified by the cold of night. This potentially
creates a greater lack of perspective of financial and other value
related issues until it is too late. Again, unless inner planets are
closely configured with Neptune, this is likely to be more of a background
issue of this generation rather than a personal issue. On the plus
side, it can create artistic genius, particularly if Venus or Mercury
aspect Neptune here. Unless inner planets are closely configured with
Neptune, this is likely to be more of a background issue of this generation
rather than a personal issue.
Pluto in Taurus
Modern astrologers believe Pluto
transforms what it contacts. Theoretically then, a transformation
of financial institutions and the financial status of nations should
take place when Pluto is in this sign. Pluto was in Taurus from the
early 1850's until the early 1880's. During this time, the industrial
revolution had reached maturity (Uranus return upon its discovery)
and the beginnings of great wealth was created in Europe and the USA
through the growing middle class. Prior to this time, there were rich
and poor, but very few in between. In the USA, the gold standard was
set up as a way to back the currency. Since Pluto's elemental nature
is undetermined, it seems useless to speculate about any differences
related to the chart sect.
If the Sun Sign is in Aries or Gemini,
these people can come across as more bull-headed than they actually
are. They have a no-nonsense approach to decision-making, and their
ideas are often very practical and useful.
Some Famous People with Mercury in
Taurus: Alec Baldwin, Cher (Sun and Mercury in Taurus), George Clooney
(Sun and Mercury in Taurus), Joe Cocker (Sun, Moon, Mercury, and Venus
in Taurus), Russell Crowe, Johnny Depp (Mercury and Venus in Taurus),
Sarah Michelle Gellar, Lenny Kravitz (Mercury and Mars in Taurus),
George Lucas (Sun, Mercury, and Venus in Taurus), Brooke Shields,
Rene Zellweger (Sun and Mercury in Taurus).
Astrology
Taurus is an astrological sign, which
is associated with the constellation of the same name. Under the tropical
zodiac, Taurus is occupied by the Sun from April 21 to May 20, and
under the sidereal zodiac, it is currently from May 14 to June 19.
The opposite sign to Taurus is Scorpio.
Taurus is a Spring Zodiac Sign (as
are the Signs of Aries and Gemini). This time of the year is also
known as the Vernal Equinox when the days and nights are of equal
length. In the Northern Hemisphere, Spring begins on March 21, while
in the Southern Hemisphere, it begins around September 23. However,
for the purposes of Astrology, the Northern Hemisphere timeframe marks
the beginning of this Season. Spring is the First Quarter (or Quadrant)
of the yearly cycle, traditionally associated with the period of new
growth and/or rebirth.
The constellation of Taurus (Latin
for "Bull") lies just north of the celestial equator (the
imaginary line formed by the projection of the Earth's equator into
space). It is visible from both the Northern hemisphere (during the
Winter and early Spring) and the Southern hemisphere (from November
through February). Taurus first appears in the East in September,
reaches its greatest height in late December and then drops below
the Western horizon in March. Therefore, it is best observed during
the early Wintertime. Taurus is a prominent and vivid constellation
marked by several distinctive features, including the bright star
Aldebaran and two of the largest open star clusters visible from Earth
- the Hyades and the Pleiades.
Mythology
In Greek mythology, this constellation
comes from the story of Europa. She was the daughter of King Agenor
of Phoenicia and Telephassa.. Europa became the object of Zeus' affections,
But Europa was constantly guarded by her father's servants.
One day Zeus changed himself into a beautiful white bull with golden
horns. He then mixed with the royal herds that were grazing
in a large field by the sea. Europa, who had been walking along
the beach, noticed this beautiful animal and could not resist going
up to it and feeding it. So friendly and gentle was this splendid
bull that she climbed onto its back and grasped its golden horns at
which Zeus jumped into the water and carried her across the sea to
Crete. He took the form of an eagle there and ravished her. She eventually
bore him three sons whose names were Minos, Rhadamanthys, and Sarpedon.
Zeus placed the image of the bull in the heavens.
The Hyades, a V-shaped cluster of
stars forming the face of Taurus, has its own mythological story.
The Hyades were sisters of Hyas, a great hunter whose death they mourned.
The girls were chosen by Zeus to care for his child Dionysus (goddess
of Wine) when her mother died. Zeus placed the sisters into
the sky for their service and pity for their grief, and there they
continue to weep for their brother.
Characteristics
The Taurean's characteristics are
solidity, practicality, extreme determination and strength of will
- no one will ever drive them, but they will willingly and loyally
follow a leader they trust. They are stable, balanced, conservative
good, law-abiding citizens and lovers of peace, possessing all the
best qualities of the bourgeoisie. As they have a sense of material
values and physical possessions, respect for property and a horror
of falling into debt, they will do everything in their power to maintain
the security of the status quo and be somewhat hostile to change.
Mentally, they are keen-witted and
practical more often than intellectual, but apt to become fixed in
their opinions through their preference for following accepted and
reliable patterns of experience. Their character is generally dependable,
steadfast, prudent, just, firm and unshaken in the face of difficulties.
Their vices arise from their virtues, going to extremes on occasion,
such as sometimes being too slavish to the conventions they admire.
On rare occasions a Taurean may be
obstinately and exasperatingly self-righteous, unoriginal, rigid,
ultraconservative, argumentative, querulous bores, stuck in a self-centered
rut. They may develop a brooding resentment through nursing a series
of injuries received and, whether their characters are positive or
negative, they need someone to stroke their egos. Most Taureans are
not this extreme though.
Taurus is the second sign of the
Zodiac and associated with material pleasure. Individuals born under
this sign are thought to have a practical, reliable, patient, affectionate,
sensuous, ambitious, and determined character, but one which is also
prone to laziness, jealousy, inflexibility, greediness, and stubbornness.
They have very good imagination and
spectacular powers supported by common sense. They are fond of hard
work and they enjoy doing work to the core. Music is a fascination
for them. They are capable of concentrating all their attention on
a single aim and purpose. Their unyielding determination leads them
to achieve their goals. They will fight for an injury done to them
but they have no part in trickery, deception and underhand dealings.
As soon as their enemy shows sign of collapse they instantly feel
sorry for them. Taurians have great receptive power. They are good
hosts and very successful socially. They always get followers but
they should guard against being swayed by other peoples advice. They
are often selected to take up responsibilities and they accept them
even though it worries them. They are incapable to accept squalor
and strife.
In terms of anatomy, Taurus is said to rule the vocal chords, tonsils,
palate, throat, neck, ears, and lower jaw.
Persistent, determined and cautious,
they are a plodder who needs time to adjust to new ideas.. Money is
important to them; it represents luxury, the easy life. But they are
not to be angered as is the case of rage "red flag" in front
of the bull.
They prefer to assume responsibilities
seriously and practically. They like gracious living and have an inner
drive to build a firm foundation, often based on financial security.
Headstrong, they are slow to anger, but when they do get angry they
get furious. Sympathetic and understanding, they are a faithful friend
but an implacable enemy.
They can accomplish anything they
set out to do. They have a strong sense of honor and integrity, and
they can make quick and incisive decisions. The fields of law, management,
sports and politics attract them.
They have a shrewd, careful, sound,
logical and judicious mind and a pleasant way of expressing them self.
This shows a lot of common sense and indicates few, if any, emotional
anxieties.
Faithful and stable, their sense
of touch is highly developed. They love luxury and plush surroundings,
and they have an innate sense of the value of material objects. Although
they are sensual, they express their sensuality passively; they let
things come to they. With their charm, good looks and probably good
voice, the opposite sex is bound to seek them out. They have a closer
rapport with nature, flowers and gardening; they can also do well
in any of the artistic fields.
Conventional and sociable, their
emotions are deep. When they feel insecure, they become jealous and
possessive. Their natural inner feelings for comfort, warmth and material
security can never be denied by them - for these are the basic building
blocks of their character. They need a stable, safe and generally
unchanging environment to function happily and peacefully.
Their feelings are genuine, warm
and caring - with a definite stability. In other words, they don't
like change too much - which makes their relationships very stable.
This element of fixedness makes them inflexible in many areas. They
don't change their mind easily and friends and loved ones will certainly
see a stubborn side of their nature.
General Character
Taurians (the bull) is determined
and peaceful, gets along easily with others and Friends can always
depend on them.
Taurus is the fixed earth sign. People
born under this sign are steady, patient, reliable and determined.
However in common with all earth signs Taurus also has a practical
creativity.
Although Taureans can sometimes have
a big stature and bossy nature they are attracted to the small and
delicate daisy which is the traditional flower of Venus. Medieval
knights wore daisies when they went into battle as a sign that they
rode in the name of a lady whom they loved- undoubtedly she was a
Taurean.
Slow, steady, and capable are adjectives
that can be safely attach to individuals born with a Taurus Ascendant.
These natives have tremendous stamina and staying power. They're often
quite loyal to those they care about. Although they generally don't
come on strong, they have personal presence; and they fairly radiate
stability.
The sign on the Ascendant generally
reveals how people start anything new. Taurus, by nature, is resistant
to change. It can be difficult to sway Taurus rising natives--they're
often rather stubborn and fixed in their ways. Their first responses
are to feel things out, not in the way a Pisces might attune to their
environment, but in the realm of the five senses. They have well-developed
sense of smell and touch, and respond to the material world. Theirs
is a practical approach to life. Security is one of their foremost
considerations before undertaking anything new.
Taurus rising natives are often quite
cautious and careful. With a fixed sign on the Ascendant, they are
not known for their flexibility. Rather, they possess determined single-mindedness.
More than most, Taurus rising prefers
the "good things" in life. Self-indulgence can be a weakness
for many with this Ascendant. Often collectors in some way, Taurus
rising natives place a lot of value on their material possessions.
They are rarely ostentatious in their
presentation. Many have strong and sturdy physiques.
Often rather possessive in partnership,
these natives won't easily break up their relationships. Although
they are not particularly jealous, they view their partners as their
personal property. Intensity and loyalty are especially important
to Taurus rising natives. These are highly sensual people who prefer
the comforts that a one-to-one, stable partnership offers. Although
Taurus rising individuals value harmony and calm, their partnerships
may be on the passionate side.
Taurus rising natives are often very
comforting to be around. They have a stability about them that is
soothing, and an inner harmony that is attractive.
Being light-hearted individuals,
Taurus natives seldom dwell in the depths of sorrow. The inherent
personality of those governed by this Sign is one of geniality. They
are bright, witty, fond of music, dancing, poetry and the arts. Blessed
with a sympathetic nature, their winning manner readily adapts them
to blend well within all classes of society. These are magnetic individuals
who are usually well-liked by everyone and their numbers of friends
is limited only by the numbers of their acquaintances. Although natives
of this Sign tend toward the conservative regarding taste, they will
buy only the very best quality and take great pains to ensure that
their purchases last.
As a Friend
They are faithful and generous friends
with a great capacity for affection, but rarely make friends with
anyone outside their social rank, to which they are ordinarily excessively
faithful. On the whole, they are gentle, even-tempered, good natured,
modest and slow to anger, disliking quarreling and avoiding ill feeling.
If they are provoked, however, they can explode into violent outbursts
of ferocious anger in which they seem to lose all self-control. Equally
unexpected are their occasional sallies into humor and exhibitions
of fun.
Basically they seek stability and
security. However some of the greatest testing times of their life
come when their values change and periods of instability arise. These
periods will often be accompanied by the need to lose or give up something
to which they are extremely attached. Their fate is to understand
the very nature of attachment and yet develop greater flexibility
in the face of gain or loss. Partnerships can be affected by their
inertia as regards the need for renewal and change. When their self-worth
is reflected by inner values, which can never be lost, they become
a tower of strength for themselves and others. Other things being
equal they can build a wall of security around their loved ones. However
they may have rather fixed ideas and principles, and they rarely allow
them self to be influenced. When those around them desire change,
this can create a good deal of frustration.
As a Women
Physical Appearance - The women born
during this period are of middle stature. The body is plumpy, the
forehead - broad and the neck - thick. Taurean woman normally have
a clean complexion, dark hair, bright eyes, well developed muscles,
and broad shoulders. They have a nice and friendly way of interacting
with others.
Mental Attitude - They have lots
of patience and can withstand great hardships. But when provoked beyond
limits, they become wild with rage and no power can withstand them.
Taureans are quite conservative and have a strong will power. They
also show signs of laziness. They cannot be deceived into doing anything
that they do not want to.
General Nature - Women born under
this sun sign have a very calm nature and can put up with lot of provocation.
A Taurean woman speaks less and has a very strong will power. They
have more moral and emotional courage than the average women. It is
easy for a Taurean woman to maintain harmony in domestic life and
live a happy and enjoyable life. Very dependable and faithful, they
are also a good cook and a very good homemaker.
Health - They are less sensitive
to pains and normally enjoy strong health. But if they fall ill, the
recovery will be slow because their recuperative power is slow and
they seldom co-operate with the doctor due to their stubborn nature.
Diseases effecting the throat and lower abdomen like tonsils, diptheria,
throat infections colds, constipation trouble they. Pimples and sore
eyes are also a sore spot for they. They should avoid cold stuff and
maximize intake of green vegetables to remain fit and healthy. Long
walks are best exercise for they and they should have sufficient sleep
also.
Money - They are one of the few people
who steadily earn and save money. They should be cautious while spending.
They can have a strong temptation for gambling also. They can become
a good broker/ money arranger/ banker. It is not uncommon for they
to measure their success only from their savings.
Romance & Sex Life - Taurus females
are not outgoing types. They will prefer to keep themselves occupied
in their own affairs and still attract people. Once in love, they
are very romantic and develop a strong attraction towards opposite
sex. However they are quite slow in reacting. Good surroundings with
lot of open air and natural looks turn they on. Harmony of colors
and especially pastel shades of blue and pink are their favorites.
Generally, they are not jealous of other females.
Taurus women have a large appetite for sex. Throat is the hotspot
for them.
Marriage - They take long time to
select their partner, but once married they shall prove to be a devoted
wife. Taurus women rarely divorce. They care a lot for their husband.
They are also a very caring mother for their children and do everything
possible to see them in good shape. Taurean women are good house makers
and do everything in a well-planned and efficient manner. Food cooked
by the Taurean women is often the best and they do show it well by
throwing parties.
Caution - Women born under Taurus sun sign may become too lazy and
get a tendency of taking life in a easy way. Being very fond of food,
they gain weight very soon. This leads to showing down of general
metabolism and a number of other problems.
As a Baby
Parents of a Taurus tot are going
to have to be very aware of this baby's need to be touched. Loving
caresses and a tender touch are what the Taurus baby lives for! Along
those lines, this is a child who needs to be comfortable. Things to
keep in mind are providing a room and bed that are neither too hot
nor too cold, food that is tasty (a budding gourmand has arrived!),
soothing sounds, and whimsical toys. As Taurus rules the Second House,
the House of Possessions, this baby's playthings will be very important.
When it comes to the learning curve,
the Taurus baby is not in a hurry to grasp new concepts. This tot
will learn things at their own pace and be unresponsive to pressure,
yet persevering in the end. In light of this, a gentle manner to get
this baby to react and respond is the sensible course of action. Also
familial in nature, the Taurus baby will enjoy having the family in
close proximity, especially siblings.
They can consider this baby a people
person in general, as they are also likely to control the play circle
where that well-known Taurean stubbornness will reveal itself!
To sum up, the Taurus baby wants
to be touched, will revel in delicious toys, and as an Earth Sign,
will want to have both feet firmly planted on the ground!
Positive Qualities
They are a builder, restorer, and
caretaker of those things they find important -- primarily the earth,
animals, and people. They are self-reliant, painstakingly patient,
and stubborn -- bullish, in other words. They take a great deal of
pride and pleasure in fixing up and maintaining a home, or discovering
a starving animal and nursing it back to health, or planting trees
where there were none before.
Because of this open-armed kindness,
people find them wonderfully comfortable to be with. they make a great
friend - they are stable, loyal, and loving. Touch is essential to
them - they love to hug and be hugged.
They appreciate beauty in all its
forms, due to their close affinity with nature. they prefer to surround
them self with people who have highly attractive qualities - external
or internal. They cannot tolerate ugliness, especially of the earth
- this makes them a firm opponent of pollution in all its forms.
Since truth and beauty are so closely
related, they also have a preoccupation with honesty, and a low tolerance
for corruption. They are forthright in their conversation and so look
people straight in the eyes when they speak to them. In fact, they
tend to distrust those who cannot meet their gaze. Political leaders
(primarily as peacemakers, such as Harry Truman), most are quite content
to be led (this fits with the chronology of the zodiac: Aries, the
first sign, is a natural leader; Taurus tends to follow him). That
is not to say they are subservient; their self-reliance allows them
to be successful and to be entrusted with great responsibility. But
it is usually within a larger context: in other words, they make a
great executive within the framework of a corporation.
Large crowds can be intimidating
to them, so they are much more effective in small groups. Many Taureans
are teachers, an occupation that displays great patience, nurturing,
and self-reliance within the larger framework of the educational system.
Negative Qualities
Their desire for security and stability
are so strong they tend to be overly stubborn and possessive. No matter
what misfortune, obstacles, or heartache befall them, they simply
will not budge. Although this is admirable, too often it limits them
and frustrates others in their dealings with them. They refuse to
see someone else's side of an argument, so there is little chance
of resolving the conflict - abstinence will hurt them in the end.
They are prone to brooding and dark moods, but these are not faults,
as long as they don't get mired in prolonged states of depression.
One of their challenges in life is
to not take things too easy and complacently - they have such a talent
with material resources that it would be a sham to waste all that
natural potential for achievement.
Physical Qualities and Activities
They have a tendency to be big-boned,
strong, perhaps even overweight. They are not very fast on their feet,
since it is an earth sign, so they enjoy being in contact with the
ground; this fact, combined with their acute sense of touch and great
patience, makes them an ideal gardener.
Taurus rising individuals prefer
to dress in quality clothes with a comfortable feel to them. These
folks also tend to be outdoors types, and enjoy hikes and biking,
getting in touch with nature.
Because of their affinity with the
ear and throat, music is prominent in their life. Their voice is one
of their most distinguishing features. Many Taureans are excellent
orators, singers and singing instructors.
But this also makes them prone to
physical ailments in the throat and neck area. Treat any infections
immediately, because they could lead to more serious problems elsewhere.
Also, they gain weight easily, so they have to be careful not to overindulge
on the food they love so much, and exercise regularly.
Physical appearance
Those born under the jurisdiction
of Taurus are, for the most part, of a robust and healthy appearance,
normally of medium height or somewhat below average. The bodily structure
is typically thick, stocky and "squarish," with a large
trunk and comparatively short limbs. In a physical sense, they tend
to very much resemble their Zodiac mascot, the Bull. The shape of
the face is often full and square, displaying somewhat flat features,
while the head itself is normally quite round. The ears are usually
small and close the head while the chin is rounded, chubby and often
sports a dimple. The nose is frequently short, often turned-up at
the end with distended nostrils. The eyes (generally large and expressive)
are customarily soft and affectionate in appearance - rather like
those of a puppy - and members of the opposite sex may find it hard
to resist the seductive charm such eyes exude. The neck of a Taurus
individual is normally short, thick and sturdy-looking, while the
general countenance is serene, characteristic of the Bull's persona,
combining great mildness with great strength.
Taurus natives are frequently big-boned
with large and imposing bodies, giving an appearance of "weightiness"
in every sense of the word (this particularly applies to the male
Taurus). They seem to have an extra layer of insulating fat, distributed
more-or-less evenly over the entire body. However, this layer of fat
is by no means unattractive, appearing solid and well suited to the
Taurus frame. Indeed, although many Taurus individuals give the appearance
of overall "bigness," they are usually far from what would
be considered fat. Stocky or solid is truly a much better description
and the average Taurus individual would not be offended in the least
by the use of such terms. In general, a Taurus individual is large
in build with broad shoulders, representing a great capacity for manual
labor.
The majority of Taurus subjects are
considered to possess a most excellent physique, displaying the promise
of youth, vigor and freshness far into the declining later years of
life. That having been said, the big-bodied image of Taurus natives
can, however, be misleading and does not always apply. Many are quite
thin or even frail, their appearance defying the usual physical characteristics
of this Zodiac Sign. Those born in the month of May as opposed to
the month of April are likely to have a Gemini, Sagittarius or Pisces
Ascendant and this can greatly alter the classical Taurus appearance.
In fact, nowhere else in the Zodiac are the physical characteristics
of a sign so mitigated by other planetary influences than in Taurus.
(The May-born, slight-of-frame, Bing Crosby, Fred Astaire and Audrey
Hepburn, for example.) Nonetheless, varied as the natives of this
Zodiac Sign may appear, there remains one telltale characteristic
by which Taurus individuals can usually be identified: the eyes, which
seem to be rather prominent or slightly protruding, having a conical
or pointed shape at the cornea - and even the more slender Taurus
natives will possess the typical broad shoulders and straight back.
The overall appearance of all Taurus individuals exudes a somewhat
distinct sensual aura.
The skin of a Taurus individual will
be glowing and opaque in nature, soft to the touch and even "creamy"
in appearance. However, some may sport a florid complexion which will,
nonetheless, be clear in character. The lips are normally full and
well-shaped with the teeth typically small and even. Generally, those
governed by this Sign move gracefully and well in coordination with
others. Although height is likely to be average, there is a tendency
to plumpness around the area of the torso and it will usually be necessary
for Taurus subjects to wage a constant guard against the proclivity
toward easy weight gain. The nostrils may be flared - particularly
in times of anger - with the nose and mouth being customarily wide.
The hands of a Taurus subject are generally broad, thick and rather
short or "pudgy" in shape. The hair of a Taurus individual
ranges from dark to the lighter shades of brown, varying in character
from naturally wavy to curly to crinkly. Whichever the case, its texture
will invariably be thick and soft. There may also be a tuft or curl
of hair above the center of the forehead - curiously similar to the
growth often found between the horns of a Bull. The voice of a Taurus
native is likely to be quite musical with the manner of speech slow
but friendly. It should be noted that there are two unconscious mannerisms
by which Taurus subjects may be readily identified: the female's tendency
to tap the feet in a nervous manner when angry or irritated; and the
male's tendency to move the head slowly but noticeably from side-to-side
under similar agitated circumstances. In addition, the nostrils of
both sexes are liable to become distinctly enlarged.
Beauty - Even though the symbol of
Taurus is the very male bull, this Fixed Earth Sign is all about potent
femininity, the kind of natural, earthy beauty that changes lives
and moves mountains. Now that's better than thinking of them self
as a slow, stubborn old bull, right? Taurus women radiate a simple
but powerful beauty; it's this subtlety that is a Taurus woman's greatest
charm.
They probably own very few cosmetic
products, but what they do own is the very best (for they, at least),
and they stick with a tried-and-true. While they appreciate a brand
name, what they're really looking for is quality, and though they
prefer simplicity to showiness, they know how to highlight their best
features and downplay their less-than-perfections.
Taurus should grow out their natural
curls rather than force them straight, or keep their nails trimmed
short if they just know long and sexy won't work for they. They adore
the small, sensual pleasures of beauty – sensual fabrics, natural,
revitalizing skin creams and perfume with a woodsy, balsamic scent.
They prefer their hair flowing naturally over their shoulder or a
loose tendril falling across their forehead.
Personality
They are extremely patient people,
and are very reliable.
These warmhearted, loving individuals
care very deeply for the people in their life. They will also find
the Taurus zodiac sign surrounded with pets, because this is a major
outlet for their loving nature.
Very persistent, a Taurus person
will have the "stick with it" to get the job done. Unlike
other zodiac signs, taurus is not so big on taking risks though, and
needs lots of security in their life. The Taurus investor plays safely,
even at the expense of increased profits.
People born under this sign achieve
almost everything in life. Believed to be down to earth, they possess
strong sense of values. Taureans are reliable, responsible, affectionate
and loyal. They are easy to get along with and are good team players.
They are patient, determined and possess enormous reserves of strength
and common sense. They are gentle, even tempered, good natured, modest
and slow to anger. Taureans dislike quarreling and tend to avoid ill-feeling.
It is rare that a Taurean would be
rigid, argumentative, or a querulous bore but if provoked, he/she
can explode into violent outbursts of ferocious anger in which he/she
seems to lose all self-control. Taureans are liable to fierce possessiveness.
Their negativity is expressed in dullness, stubbornness and resistance
to change.
Patience and reliability are the
two most important traits of the Taurus person. Taureans need a stable,
secure and material background. Emotional and material security is
necessary for this warm-hearted and loving individual. Taurus needs
someone with whom they can share their lives. They also seek calm
in relationships. Emotional sanctuary is vital to them. When there
is tension in their home, they and those they love can expect a bumpy
ride. Sudden flares of temper are not uncommon and they can put some
oomph behind their temper when they have to.
The Taurean mind is methodical, careful
and decisive. Once they have made a decision, it is rare they change
their minds. Not looking for short cuts, they make their way down
the proven path.
With their natural charm, they endear
others to them. Their soft voices give good advice to those who will
listen Common sense is one of their stronger characteristics compounded
with a persistent and determined nature.
They are a steadfast and patient
soul, capable of tremendous devotion, dedication, endurance, and constancy.
The ability to follow through and stick with things is one of their
greatest assets. Once their course is set, they pursue it tenaciously
until it is completed, stubbornly resisting any attempts to sway they
from their purpose.
They have a very practical nature
and want to see concrete, tangible results for their efforts, and
they are not one for spinning wild dreams that are unlikely to come
into fruition. Most of their "wild dreams" have to do with
material achievements, well-being, and security, for they have a great
love of the physical world and they want to experience and enjoy it
to the full. Though they will work long and persistently, they also
have a strong sensual and comfort-loving side, and they want to enjoy
what they have worked for. In fact, they can be enormously lazy at
times and have a tendency to overindulge in good food and other earthly
pleasures. They also love the beauty of the natural world and probably
prefer a serene country setting rather than an urban life style.
At heart their needs are simple and
they are easy to please. They have a strong desire for security, stability,
and peace, and will rarely make changes unless they are forced to
do so. They are not very demanding emotionally, though they do crave
lots of physical closeness and affection. Because of their faithfulness,
emotional steadiness, and gentle strength, others often depend upon
them for support. Though they hate upheaval and sudden changes, they
usually maintain their poise and equanimity. They also have an innate
sense of harmonizing with nature, allowing things to grow and unfold
in their own time, and the patience to nurture something into being
- be it a garden, a child, or some creative project. They make an
excellent mother or father, especially if they follow their instincts
more often than "the experts".
They have three major faults: One is their bullheaded obstinacy. The
second is their unwillingness to deviate from their safe, predictable
routine. And the third is their tendency to always insist upon realism
and undervalue the imaginative, speculative, and fanciful - in other
words, they lack the ability to play with ideas and possibilities,
to open their mind to the new.
Romance
They are faithful by nature and don't
indulge in love affairs unnecessarily. They are more than averagely
amorous and sensually self-conscious, but sexually straightforward
and not given to experiment. They make constant, faithful, home loving
spouses and thoughtful, kindly parents, demanding too much of neither
their spouses nor children. They can be over possessive and may sometimes
play the game of engineering family roles for the pleasure of making
up the quarrel. If anyone offends their amour proper they can be a
determined enemy, though magnanimous in forgiveness if their opponent
makes an effort to meet them halfway.
When a Taurean loves, they love hard.
Relations with one another are intense and passionate but they can
also become complacent. One flaw in their personality may be that
they tend to become possessive of the person they love. Woe unto that
person or any other who tries to come between them and their chosen
companion. At that point one might find out what it feels like to
be charged by a thousand pound bull. This is perhaps one of their
worst weaknesses. Possession can lead to jealousy.
Sweetness and light may be the best
recipe for romance with the Bull. This is a sign oh-so-responsive
to a wink, a smile and a tender touch; if all this comes along with
roses and champagne, so much the better. Material pleasures are important
to Taureans and they will create a den of delight sure to dazzle their
lover. Seeing how important security and possessions are to Taurus,
someone who provides these things will quickly make it to the top
of their list. The reward - Undying loyalty and a kinship which is
sure to please.
Love and Relation
As a lover, they are not as tempestuous
as, say, Pisces, Leo, or Scorpio, but they are warm, sensual, and
highly affectionate. As a mate, they are often ideal, because of their
great capacity for love, their patience, and their stability.
Their ideal matches are with Scorpio
(although it can be stormy, it's proven to endure), and the two other
earth signs, Virgo and Capricorn. Both are very stable and harmonious
with they, although the latter is perhaps better suited to a business
partnership. Even a partner of their own sign is compatible, although
it's not often found.
Signs to avoid are Aries (although
the Arian's strong will can be compatible with certain Taureans who
are more docile, they're generally considered too independent-minded),
Sagittarius (much too free-spirited for they), and Gemini (again,
too restless).
Male
The Taurus man loves creature comforts.
He is sensuous, tactile, giving, practical and stable. When a Taurus
man falls in love it is forever, because Taurus guys aren’t
wanderers. One of the sexiest characteristics of a Taurus man is his
wonderfully sexy, deep voice. Taurus rules the throat and many Taurus
are well known singers.
One of the nicest males of the Zodiac,
the Taurus man is extremely lovable from a woman's point of view.
However, is not very adept at revealing his true feelings to the female
of choice. Instead, prefers to show his love in the things that he
does and, provided he is coaxed rather than driven, the Taurus male
is usually quite easy to manage. Trust and loyalty are major priorities
to this relatively uncomplicated male and he will expect to find these
qualities in everyone with whom he is acquainted - from the garbage
collector to his wife. He will happily marry a woman from any station
in life, so long as she can cook well and keep the house running smoothly.
Unlike some other Zodiac Signs, the Taurus man will not select his
partner principally for her pretty face, but is usually attracted
more by a curvaceous figure.
The attitude of the Taurus male toward
sex and love is somewhat reticent. He is not the most passionate of
men, but is certainly much deeper than he allows others to know. With
a basic understanding of life and its purpose in practical terms,
he may appear dull at times, but nothing could be further from the
truth. Usually considered to be rather handsome by the opposite sex,
the Taurus man is kind, tolerant and helpful, possessed of great seductive
charm? However, he may convey a feeling of extreme nonchalance in
expression and manner, seeming to take everything in stride with barely
a flicker of anxiety. All too often, this is taken for disinterest
or apathy, but in truth, the Taurus male is acutely aware of his surroundings
- albeit that he is probably the most laid-back of all Zodiac males.
Known to be somewhat shy and reserved,
the Taurus man has a quiet power, which speaks volumes - something
the opposite sex frequently finds irresistible - and he has a way
of making a woman feel safe and secure. There is a tendency for the
Taurus male to have more female friends than male friends because
many women tend to seek out his advice and take it to heart when he
chooses to give it. Although not particularly interested in fashionable
clothing, the Taurus man is nevertheless always clean and well-groomed.
He dislikes "frills and fanfare," being rarely attracted
to a woman with heavily lacquered hair. Brightly colored polish on
fake fingernails will also be off putting to this male, as will matching
lipstick. The Taurus man will treat his woman like a princess but
will also insist on being in charge of the monetary aspect of the
relationship. He has an aversion to surprises and can display a bad
temper if provoked. With a weakness for fine food, the Taurus male
can easily be impressed with a good, home-cooked meal.
Female
The Taurus woman is feminine, soft
and highly diplomatic. She has a lyrical speaking voice that soothes
and comforts others, and she could even have a talented singing voice
(Barbara Streisand is a Taurus). Ruled by Venus, Taurus is a sign,
which adores the arts--from music to painting--and will enthusiastically
go to any cultural event her lover suggests. In lovemaking, the Taurus
woman is passionate and deeply tender. She may not be as sexually
experimental as the other signs, but her fidelity and strong sense
of ethics will impress they. Her bed will be the pinnacle of comfort,
with piles of pillows and a fluffy comforter. There might be fresh
flowers in her bedroom, or she might have a glass wall overlooking
a lush garden.
Once committed, the Taurus woman
is faithful and true, believing from an early age in the "one
and only" type of love. Even later in life, should she experience
disillusionment and a crushing of her ideal, she continues to hold
fast to her vision of one lasting union. A romantic at heart, this
female demands absolute fidelity. Not one to mince words, especially
in matters of the heart, the Taurus woman detests mind games and teasing
and is seldom (if ever) impulsive.
Often described as having the smile
of a Mona Lisa and a sensual look in her eyes, the Taurus female is
nonetheless far from promiscuous and will seek security and stability
in any relationship. The casual affair is not for this woman. In many
ways, she is the perfect personification of the old-fashioned girl,
being devoted and protective - one who loves and nurtures and gives
of her strength. She is open, affectionate and demonstrative. With
a secure sense of her own judgment, she trusts her instincts and refuses
to be affected by any negative comments directed toward a loved one
by another party. Women governed by this Sign make the most devoted
and constant wives, willing to endure the greatest privations and
making the most extreme sacrifices for those they love. However, the
Taurus female needs to be constantly on guard against insincere sympathy
and evil-minded flattery since her kind and sympathetic nature will
make her most susceptible. Unless this woman is very careful, she
can easily be led far astray.
An ideal love partner
Taurus - Aries. Taurus is impressed
by a great energy of Aries, and Aries is excited by the enchantment
of Taurus. Taurus and Aries are complementary relationship. The Taurean
soothes the Arien, bringing him stability and the means to carry out
his plans. He keeps his feet on the ground while the Arien is juggling
between risks and adventure. Taurus is not as quick on the trigger
as Aries, but both have a mutual interest in making love. Aries is
emotional and Taurus ' Is sensual, and they're bound to have fun while
the affair lasts. In time, though, Taurus's possessiveness will strike
angry sparks from fiery Aries. They'll also argue about money-Taurus
tends to be careful and conservative, Aries is reckless and a spendthrift.
Aries's impulsiveness in making decisions annoys fixed Taurus, who
dislikes a sudden change in routine. An affectionate affair can turn
into a difficult marriage.
Taurus - Taurus. They are working
on making their future more firm and reliable, and they are very interested
in the physical closeness. They need the warmness of the other person.
They can get on together in venusian/ terrian harmony, on condition
they have a house, children, property and money. Maybe one day they
may need stimulation but they’re physically compatible and know
how to avoid problems. This isn't the most exciting union ever, for
both are domestic creatures who prefer safety to adventure. However,
both share a fondness for money, are hardworking, loyal, and affectionate.
She tends to be more sentimental than he, but each is as possessive
as the other, which works out fine. Because they are both earthy and
direct about sexual needs, there should be no problem in that department.
Boredom is the threat. The perfect solution is for each to develop
some outside hobbles and friends without raising the possessive hackles
of the other.
Taurus - Gemini. Gemini is fond of
flirting most of all in this world and Taurus need to have a proof
of the seriousness of his intentions. They compliment each at work;
the Gemini puts the finishing touches to the Taurus’ rough work.
In love, the dialogue is unproductive between the earthy venusian
and the airy mercurian. The latter fascinates the former. It’s
better if in a partnership the woman is Taurus ; she will give the
other roots. These two are completely unalike in temperament. Taurus
is stolid, fixed in opinions, resistant to change. Gemini is flighty,
restless, vacillating. But they may find each other intriguing for
that very reason-for a little while. Gemini is attracted to Taurus's
passions, but in time Taurus's instinct for security and stability
will be offended by volatile Gemini. Taurus is too much a creature
of habit to go along with Gemini & the constant need for new stimulation.
Eventually, Taurus's demands are simply too much for Gemini, who seeks
escape.
Taurus - Cancer. These two signs
match each other a great deal. Tenderness on one hand and the sensitivity
on the other are those things that will make this couple strong. Their
excellent complimentary association between Earth and Water; a soft
and affectionate atmosphere between Venus and the Moon. They have
tastes in common for family, children and home. They have a lot going
for them. Both are home-lovers, sentimentalists, and highly sexed.
Taurus's even-going, placid nature is a good antidote for Cancer's
moodiness, though at times plain-spoken Taurus must be careful not
to slight Cancer's feelings. Cancer needs someone like Taurus to depend
on; Cancer gives Taurus the loyalty and feedback it needs. Taurus
is ambitious for money and security, and Cancer has exactly those
same goals. Similar interests and desires make for a harmonious mating.
Taurus - Leo. This relationship promises
to be hot, the passions will be great. Because both of them feel the
sex appeal of each other. The two fixed signs that could clash but
build something together. There could be a partnership, on condition
that the woman is Taurus and if she allows the Leo his superiority
or allows him to make the decisions. Leo demands constant praise and
adulation, and is forever competing with Taurus. As a result, Taurus
digs in its heels and gets more sullen with each passing day. Taurus
needs appreciation and Leo needs worship, but neither will get what
it needs from the other. In addition, Leo is extravagant and Taurus
parsimonious. There is a basic conflict between Taurus's desire for
a well-ordered schedule and Leo's need for a larger-than-life existence.
Sexually, these two are well matched, but Leo thinks life is a circus
and tries to perform in all three rings at once. Taurus finds that
hard to take, or even to watch.
Taurus - Virgo. These two can easily
get along with each other. They will never settle some problems and
sort out their relationship. A kindred relationship between two Earth
Signs; Virgo’s Mercury could stimulate Taurus, Taurus’
Venus awakens Virgo’s emotions and reassures her. But Virgo
could become bored and Taurus feel frustrated. It's love at first
sight - Both are homebodies and they share the same intellectual pursuits.
Taurus's tenacity and Virgo's sharp mind are a good combination for
success as a team. And Taurus keeps a careful eye on expenditures,
which pleases thrifty Virgo. A
